Zack and Lara have superpowers. Luke has new school shoes and a burning sense of resentment. He KNOWS that aliens disguised as gym teachers are about to attack Earth but will anyone listen? No. So one dodgy pact with a self-styled supervillain later, and Luke is ready to save the world. He just needs to find his trainers.

'My Gym Teacher Is an Alien Overlord' is the action-packed sequel to the bestselling 'My Brother Is a Superhero', winner of the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and the British Book Industry Awards Children's Book of the Year.

I loved this book.
The characters were all funny and reminded me of people I knew so I could relate to the story and them. I like that the super heroes are human and have problems that you dont normally think about like having to choose clothes that can survive being nestled in by mice or having an answering service for telepathy.
I liked the main character a lot as he wasn't a super hero just someone who really wanted to be one and who saved the day!
The story is really good, very twisty, lots of recognisable shows and comics and characters put in there too like Star Trek and Star Wars which I liked as it was stuff I knew about and like too.
I love that its set in the UK - and has things like Primark and things.
The only thing I didn't like was that Dark Flutter the girl hero had rubbish powers - thats like a joke in the book though so its part of the story line and I dont want to giveaway the ending but she gets cooler at the end.
This book took me 3 evenings to read it through (around 2 hours in total) - it's quite a big book and you really want to know whats going to happen next so want to keep reading it. This is a great book for boys and girls aged from around 8 upwards.
I cant wait to read the next book in the series.

I loved this book and so did my sister. We liked it because it is a very good adventure story. As we were reading a proof copy the flip o Rama's were missing and these would have made it better.
We liked the character Lara, whose superhero name is Dark Flutter   We liked her as she has animal powers

I really liked the suspense and excitement in this book. I couldn't put it down! Amazingly, it was better than the first book in this series, 'My Brother is a Superhero'. My favourite character was Serge because he is very funny. It had a great storyline. David Wallians may have a match!

I really enjoyed this book and could not put it down. Its very funny and full of cheesy humour. It follows Zack and Lara who are superheros and Luke who does not have powers but discovers aliens are trying to destroy earth. Luke has to save the earth with the help of his comic book knowledge. I really liked the character Lara. her super power is that she can talk to cute little animals. If i was a super hero this would be my dream power!

I liked this book because I like superheroes and adventure stories. It was about Zack (aka star lad), Lara (aka dark flutter) and Luke (aka normal person with new school shoes, a burning sense of resentment and knows that aliens disguised as gym teachers are going to to attack the people of Earth). I like how the kids have super powers and still have to do normal stuff. It is a very funny read. I haven’t read the first book but would like to after this.

My daughter really struggled to get into this book so I took on the challenge. Much like her, it isn't my preferred genre and it has taken me a long time to read as I never really got into it.
I can see that this book would appeal to boys as it is about having superpowers and out-of-this-world experiences. It could be a great book for encouraging reluctant readers if they like superheroes.
