    Sam McBratney Biography
Born in Ireland in 1943, Sam McBratney has written more than 50 books for children and young adults. His best-known book, Guess How Much I Love You, was shortlisted for the 1994 Kurt Maschler Award and has sold more than 30 millions copies worldwide and been translated into 53 languages. In 2004, Sam reunited with Guess How Much I Love You illustrator Anita Jeram to create the follow-up, You’re All My Favourites. They collaborated again in 2007 to produce a series of brand-new storybooks featuring the Nutbrown Hares: Guess How Much I Love You in the Spring followed by Summer, Autumn and Winter and brought together in Guess How Much I Love You All Year Round.

After graduating with a degree in History and Political Science from Trinity College in Dublin, Sam became a teacher at a further education college, a grammar school and a primary school. He took early retirement in 1990 to focus on his writing.

Sam is married with three grown-up children and lives in County Antrim, Ireland.
