She earned her degree in Zoology from the University of London and began her career there in the zoology department. Harriet took some time off to raise three children and care for the growing number of family pets, including stick insects, rats, cats, several dogs and a snake called Kellog. Harriet still works at the school, is the author of numerous non fiction titles for children, a business director and keen bird watcher.
