Book pages There's a Bear on My Chair
There's a Bear on My Chair
I read it to CopyMonkey aged 4
This book was so much fun to read out loud. And it was laugh-out-loud funny too!!  My 4 year laughed at how the mouse reacted to a bear in his chair. But he also noticed how angry the mouse got when the bear ignored his pleas. And then how sad mouse was when he eventually accepted that he lost his chair to the bear.  It’s a great book to talk about emotions and sharing (and not sharing).  And there’s an eco-lesson on polar bears and how rare they’re becoming.  Fantastic book all around.

Book pages There Is No Dragon In This Story
There Is No Dragon In This Story
I read it to CopyMonkey aged 4
What a great fun story!!  My four year old recently discovered and enjoyed the classic stories, such as Three Little Pigs, Red Ridinghood, etc. This book fits right in but with a modern deconstructed twist about the “bad” dragon who just wants to be good, helpful, and a hero. By golly, Dragon is in this book. The story is very pretty with lots of fun colorful illustrations. Lots of funny bits where he shows up in other tales, and my son laughed out loud when he recognized the other stories. Great fun and read.

Book pages The Highway Rat
The Highway Rat
I read it to CopyMonkey aged 3
A nice rhyme-y book to read out loud. The illustrations are fun to look at and the Highway Rat is such a great character. My three year old loves this book because of the rat!  He knows the rat is naughty for stealing, but he also loves how the rat is demanding for chocolate and sweeties. It's also nice to see that in the end, the rats work at a bakery shop (tidying and sweeping) and gets all the lovely things to eat because of his hard work. At least, that's how I've interpreted it and pointed out to my son!!
