Meet Simon, Jane, and Barney Drew: three siblings going on a family holiday to Cornwall with their Great-Uncle Merry, who up until their holiday had always seemed quite ordinary. But as soon as they step into their holiday home, the Grey House, they know that it must be special. And even more special is what they find inside it: a map that will taken them on a magical quest to find a grail, a source of great power that could contain - or resurrect - the powerful, age-old forces of evil in the world. And the Drews are not the only ones searching for it.

Great-Uncle Merry, who we will see travel through time and even become King Arthur's most trusted advisor, will help them on their quest for the grail, and once the siblings discover this world made up of Things of Power, time-travelling doors, crystal swords and all kinds of different magical practices, nothing is ever the same again. 

They will find themselves going on further adventures, from dangerous journeys to vanquish the terrifyingly evil magic of the Dark to discovering the power of Greenwich and tipping the balance between good and evil to battles between the Dark and the Light.

Susan Cooper is also the renown author of The Boggart books, which are also perfect for fantasy loving readers.
