Street Child Series

Set in Victorian London, these two companion middle grade novels are breathtakingly beautiful and heartwarming, based on the boy whose plight inspired Dr Barnardo to found his famous children’s homes.

You can begin your read with either of these two books. In the first, we follow Jim Jarvis, who is separated from his sisters and left all alone in London after his mother dies. In the second book, we follow his sisters, Lizzie and Emily. While Jim must struggle to survive in the city, amid cruel bosses and the dangers of London streets, his sisters move across England and eventually find themselves working for mill owners under the most horrendous conditions.

These stories are all based on the true experiences of one of the most brutal times for children and are excellent reads for fans of Phil Earle
