If you love a YA story about a dystopian realities, female friendships, arranged marriages and social castes, we highly recommend The Selection series.
This series is one of the staple introductions to the romantasy genre. Beginning with a reality TV competition, 17-year-old main character America Singer is selected together with another 34 contestants to win over Prince Maxon's love. America doesn't really want to win over the prince. In fact, she has a boyfriend of her own. But to support her family, she stays in the game, striking a deal with the prince: she will be his eyes and ears, helping him make the best decision possible. In exchange, he'll keep her in the competition so her family can receive all the financial gain and popularity from the contest. But things get complicated very quickly, as America slowly gets to know the other contestants, grows friendships and strong feelings for the prince. The final two books in the series step into the future, focusing on America's daughter in a connected duology.
This is a great series if you love The Hunger Games, but would love a little more romance!
