This is a sweet reference guide for children all about baby animals.

The first few pages are an introduction to baby animals in general.

Each baby animal in the book then has page devoted to them; there is a description of the animal with some salient facts as well as a large illustration - usually the baby with their parent. Every other page there is a drawing of a baby animal along with some written clues; the reader needs to guess who it is.

It includes farmyard baby animals as well as some more exotic wild and sea animals.

The illustrations are lovely and they are also big on the page, which makes it accessible to much younger children - such as my toddlers! I think it's designed for early readers, as opposed to toddlers but it can be read with them; instead of reading the text verbatim I ask questions like "who is this?" or simply describe the picture or talk about it with my children. It's a great introduction to baby animals (and animals in general really); it's a lovely way to introduce or expand vocabulary and will have a lot of longevity as it will stay with a toddler until they are ready themselves.
