For use with individual pupils aged from 8-15 years, younger children can also use it with an adult providing support. Ideally used in a one to one context, adult and pupil work through the statements together and produce a profile of the pupil at that specific point in time. The resource can also be utilised by an adult who knows the pupil, as a check for their perceptions of the social and emotional needs of that individual. The indicator obtains information about the distance travelled by one child by comparing their current social and emotional competence with their previous level.
