According to one of our enthusiastic Year 5 librarians.... 'This is the perfect book for people who like Marvel comics but want to read a book too.' And who are we to argue with a statement like that?  It is, indeed, a perfect mix of story and comic style illustrations.

Holly Sparkes is a normal 12 year old until the day that she is struck by lightening. From then on, she is like a human battery, able to produce massive amounts of electricity in seconds.... which might just help her uncover what is going on at CyberSky.

This book is perfect for children in years 4/5

Holly is an ordinary girl... well, that is until she get's hit by lightening! Welcome to the amazing adventures of Electrigirl!!

This story is exciting, thrilling... extraordinaryHolly and her brother Joe are a fantastic team of superhero and 'mentor'.  And Professor Macavity is the despicable villain with an evil plan that needs stopping!

I love that our superhero is a girl, one that still has to go to school, still has to deal with worrying parents and failing friendships, and then, she has superpowers to master too! The comic parts are brilliant and really enhance the narrative!

Will definitely be buying a copy for the school library!

Electrigirl was such a page turner that I finished it in an evening! I liked the idea of the 'part book... part comic...' thing. The illustrations were just as good as the story! Holly is truly amazing as is her brother Joe and her best friend Imogen. Professor Macavity is one of the most evilest people out of all the evilest people. Read the book to find out why...
From the minute Holly got the bad news... I knew some thing was wrong with CyberSky. Anyone who reads this book and likes it will probably want the sequel (like me!).
I recommend it for 8-11's.

Holly Sparkes was just a normal girl until a freak accident gave her a dangerous and strange superpower, turning her into………..Electrigirl!
With a campaigner mother, a military father, and a superhero-obsessed younger brother,  Holly is a typical tweenager who just wants to hang out with her best friend, Imogen.  That is, until Imogen becomes obsessed with playing QuizTime games on one of the new mobile phones given to the whole town by the slightly sinister CyberSky corporation.
Imogen soon stops talking to Holly, or anyone else for that matter.  What’s happened?  Can Holly and her brother get to the bottom of the mystery before it’s too late?
This fantastic book is a clever mix of story and comic strip (illustrations by Cathy Brett) which will appeal to all readers aged 8+.  It’s great to have a superhero book with a young girl as the lead character.  Highly recommended!

I have a 10yr  old son who often gives up halfway through a book so I find it hard to get a book that catches his interest.  He loved this and read it cover to cover, praise indeed!!
