It's the third instalment of Jeff Kinney's award winning Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, but will it be third time lucky for our hero, Greg Heffley? It's not easy for me to think of ways to improve myself, because I'm pretty much one of the best people I know. Greg's dad, Frank, is on a mission. A mission to make this wimpy kid... well, less wimpy. All manner of 'manly' physical activities are planned, but Greg just about manages to find a way out of them. That is until military academy is mentioned, and Greg realises that he's going to have to come up with something very special to get out of this one... 7+ readers all over the world love reading about what scrapes and schemes Greg gets up to in his hilarious diaries. Full of pictures and giggles, they are the perfect gift, even for reluctant readers. Praise for Jeff Kinney and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series: 'The world has gone crazy for Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid series' - The Sun 'Kinney is right up there with J K Rowling as one of the bestselling children's authors on the planet' - Independent 'Hilarious!' - Sunday Telegraph www.wimpykidclub.co.uk

I chose this book from school. I have some other diary of a wimpy kid books at home which I really enjoyed, so that's why I chose this one. I read it independently, which was fine. There were no hard words I couldn't read.
Greg's dad wants him to toughen up, And threatens to send him to military academy, so Greg has to shape up. I liked the black and white illustrations throughout. It was entertaining. I liked the camping trip bit, and when Free ended up outside the hotel room in just his underwear. A really enjoyable read.

I have enjoyed all the Wimpy Kid books that I have read. They have all been so funny. Greg hasn't changed at all. He still isn't very nice to Rowley and keeps getting into trouble. His Dad, in this book, wants him to be a bit more like his Boss's sons and be better at sport. The illustrations make the story even funnier. I would definitely recommend this book.

This is my favourite out of the wimpy kids. It was awesome I sometimes skip pages when I'm reading but not with this one, its so funny, I told my mum I might even read it again.

Would definitely recommend it - I'm 9 and I really thought it was great.

My son excels at reading, but up until Wimpy Kid we hadn't found a series that had hgim absolutely devouring a book within hours. The Diary of the Wimpy kid did this for my son, he is obsessed with the series now and read everything by Jeff Kinney in under two weeks. He pretty much devoured a book every day, or sometimes within a few hours.

I asked him what he liked so much about the Wimpy Kid series and his reply was that they were really great stories - and funny. He liked that they made him laugh a lot. His favourite character is Manny, as he always does silly things and is a little like his younger brother.

While I knew the books were popular, I don't know why it took me so long to offer them to my son. They have launched his free reading and given him a real appetite for books and reading.

He is 7, so I recommend for this age and above.

Another hit from author Jeff Kinney! Fregley, my goodness that kid is gross but i must admit that everything he comes out with leaves me in stitches.

Again Kinney is full of the funny, especially 'Chimps- the 4 page paper by Greg Heffley' that had me giggling!

I read the first 5 books in the series by Jeff Kinney in one night, i genuinely couldn't put them down!

I did like this book as I love all the wimpy kid books, but I thought it was sad that his dad wanted to change him, and I kept thinking he should like him the way he is.

This was the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid book I had ever read and it gave me a great impression of the series ! It is set out like a cartoon , it was a book i had to KEEP picking up and read more and more. Everything is interesting and hilarious. It was about a boy called Gregory or Greg and he tries to make everyone as amazing as him for his new years resolution. I asked my mum to buy the rest of the series it as so good !!

This instalment in the series wasn't particularly great, nothing new all very similar to the previous books.

What happens in this one, Greg avoids doing laundry, Greg fancies a girl, Greg is rude, Greg is mean, Greg doesn't learn any lessons but all works out in the end.

Warning, this book does feature the word Ploopy....thought I'd mention it incase you are crazy easily offended.

My daughter really enjoyed this one though. Don't think many parents are going to get much out of it.
