A hilarious story for anyone who has ever had to tangle with a head full of hair!

When Amy is born she doesn't have much hair. Not for long! Soon her hair is the stuff of fairy tales - so long she could throw it down a tower to let up a handsome prince. Only, hair this long is also really inconvenient , especially on windy days. So Amy's dad comes up with some innovative solutions , and soon EVERYONE wants one of Daddy's Hairdos !

A brilliant book from new talent Francis Martin and rising star Claire Powell , illustrator of Have You Seen My Giraffe? .

When Amy is born she has hardly any hair, in fact her Dad has much more than her. But as Dad’s hair slowly disappears –  to who knows where –  Amy’s takes on a life of it’s own and she begins to give Rapunzel a run for her money. The problem is life is quite difficult with extraordinary long hair, you can’t  play trick or treat, it gets all sorts tangled up inside it and the only way to dry your hair is on the washing line. Amy is totally fed up until her Dad steps in with the most ingenious hairstyles, which turn them both into an overnight sensation. Francis’s writing is bursting with hairlarious and curltastic details, this story is bound to entertain and engage younger readers. Claire’s glorious illustrations make this book a total joy to read and is guaranteed to leave a smile on your face.

My 4 year old daughter really enjoyed this book and had to have it read twice as soon as it arrived. The story follows Amy and her dad and all the bother and nuisance of Amy's long hair. Can dad come up with a solution? Well yes. was it successful? Eventually.

Lovely illustrations, not too long,  suitable for 3-5 year olds

What a great book, with really fun illustrations. Amy grows her hair so long, it's always getting in the way of things. But get daddy comes up with some fun hair styles to keep it out the way. Which wins him some awards. Lots of fun in this story. Which was really enjoyed.

This is such a fun, silly story. There are loads of great illustrations to go along with all the hair styles. My sons thought it was funny when Dad lost his hair. It’s a story about a little girl and her Dad however me and my boys found it enjoyable so I would recommend for boys and girls. It’s great for a bedtime read, we are reading it frequently at the moment.

A thoroughly engaging book about a young girl with very long hair and her father’s attempts at styling it. The book had my boys laughing out loud at the hairdos and they loved the beautiful illustrations. It was discussed for days after-with everyone having to pick their favourite hairstyle-the triple beehive was a firm favourite! A great read.

Daddy Hairdo is a fun story about a girl called Amy who loves her long hair (longer than daddy's) but finds as it grows longer and longer it becomes more inconvenient and so daddy comes up with some creative solutions. The children loved this book and after having seeing the cover with the ice cream cone hair they were desperate for it to be read to them. The children really enjoyed the silliness of this story and they found it funny seeing all the difficulties Amy got into with long hair but regardless a lot of them said they wish they had hair like Amy's. When it came to the creative hairdos of daddy's they thought it was brilliant and made them giggle as "daddy could never do that!" one of the children shared but they all had their favourites. The characters in the book were fun and likeable with the children finding it easy to relate to Amy and her dad in their lives even if not as creatively as this book. The illustrations in the book are fantastic and the best part of the book for the children as they got to see all the spectacular illustrations of Amy's hair. The attention to detail was very good as well and all the little things labelled at the start of the book were fun to read and look at as they searched for daddy's hair. The children had mixed feelings at the end of the book as half of them liked the end result and others preferred Amy as previously in the book and were disappointed for the character but it gave us the chance to show that Amy could be happy whatever she chose to look like and still have lots of fun with daddy and her friends. The children really enjoyed this book and it made them giggle throughout, a fantastic story if you're looking for a fun easy read!

A very silly book which my daughter really enjoyed. All about a girl with extremely long hair and a very creative daddy. She liked all the super silly hairdos the the father makes which made her laugh. Probably a good one for kids that are reluctant to get their hair cut. Nice to see a father figure doing the daughter's hair and winning prizes for his hard work.

Both my kids loved this story. It's about a little girl who's hair just keeps growing. Her dad then does some very imaginative hairdos for her to try to keep it off the floor. My boy loved the hairdryer and found that funny and that the Dad lost all his hair. My girl loved all the different styles of hair. Lovely illustrations too.

Daddy Hairdo is a brilliantly funny new picture book about a little girl, called Amy, and her dad. As Amy’s hair grows and grows, Dad’s drops out and soon he’s pretty much bald apart from the tufts above his ears. There are some great scenes as Amy and her dad consider what might have happened to Dad’s hair (a hair-raising round-the-world adventure perhaps?). Amy’s hair, by contrast, is the stuff of fairy tales. Eventually, it gets so long that she can’t stand on the floor anymore and has to be carried around.

Dad needs to come up with a solution. Fast. Amy’s hair is taking a lot of looking after and it’s ruining her games of hide and seek. After careful research and hours of pet- and topiary-based practice, Dad perfects the Daddy Hairdo. His creations are fabulously outrageous and extravagant. For example, there’s the ‘Ice Cream Cone’ (complete with sprinkles and a cherry), and the rocket-topped ‘Rings of Saturn’. Children and parents alike will delight in these eye-catching and imaginative hairstyles and may even dream up some of their own.

Amy’s dazzling new hairstyles soon become the talk of the town and she and her dad become minor celebrities. People are queuing up at Dad’s hair salon to get their own flamboyant hairstyles.

However, while Amy’s striking up-dos certainly keep her hair tidy, they are not without their problems. She is too tall for the bouncy castle, even more spottable in games of hide and seek, and, worst of all, too wide to fit through the sweet shop door. Dad and Amy will have to think again.

Daddy Hairdo is such a fun story. I particularly love the pictures, and all the hair themed puns which Claire Powell also carries through into her glorious illustrations.

My son and wife read this together. My son was excited about the front cover. He enjoyed seeing the length of the hair changing, and a discussion about baldness- there was a lot for him to relate to. My wife found the story a little long, but my son was captivated throughout. He was excited to read the story for a second night in a row! I personally liked the close bond shown between the parent and the child.

We have been reading this with our nearly four-year-old daughter at bedtime for the last few nights and she loves it. She likes all the silly hairstyles and loves the bit when the dad loses his hair - we had a long discussion about why this happens! Overall it's a silly, funny story - we felt it was over quite quickly and at this age she seems to be looking for slightly longer, meatier books but great for little ones.
