Carter, the crocodile hero of Open Very Carefully, is back and he's NOT happy. All he wants to do is find his way home, but he can't get there by himself - he needs YOUR help! In this unique interactive book, with brilliantly designed die-cut pages, children are encouraged to take part in the story, to create a door in the page and use their imagination to guide Carter into new environments, from stormy seas to hot deserts and icy lands. But will that cranky croc and the little friends he's made along the way ever find their way home?

Poor Carter the Croc is lost and needs help getting home. Fantastic book, my 3 year old has insisted I read it to him everyday since it arrived. Great how it gets children involved, tracing shapes and using their imagination. Would definitely recommend

Both my children aged 3 and 4 loved this book. The book is very interactive, asking them to draw with their finger and think of places and things (I know this is vauge, but don't want to give away the story). Would recommend for a similar age.

Really lovely book. My 3 year old is fascinated by joining in and drawing shapes (doors) for the crocodile to crawl through as he goes into different rooms. It is quite a different idea and he found it fascinating!
I really recommend this book to anyone wanting a book for their little ones that keeps them actively involved in a book.

Carter the crocodile is cranky and lost and it is up to you to help him find his way home... before he eats you!
We LOVE this book! Boundaries are blurred as the text encourages children to physically interact with the book - blowing on pages, drawing shapes on them with their fingers to make doors and shaking the book to jiggle the characters through. Carter the crocodile travels through the doors trying to get home and collecting friends as he goes. But it isn't an easy journey and Carter gets quite cross! He needs a gentle touch and a bit of stroking to soothe his temper. When he finally reaches home his friends need to be matched back to their habitat before - inevitably - starting back at the beginning as the kids call out 'again, again!'
A stunningly good book. Look out for Nicola O'Byrne's previous book starring carter the croc, Open Very Carefully.

What a lovely book, it totally captivates the child by asking to do things in each page, thinking about where animals live etc. My son loved it, enjoyed doing the activities on each page and laughed when we turned over the pages...
we have had books by this author before, and would definitely again, she is imaginative and purely thinks of the children she is writing for!
Would highly recommend this book

This is such a lovely, interactive book. I imagine I will be reading it to my daughter for years to come! She is a bit young to participate with the drawing etc now, but is happy to watch me and is always enthralled. The illustrations are beautiful. We love this book!

A fantastic interactive picture book about Carter the crocodile. Carter is lost and he needs help to find his way home. The story is written in a playful way and encouraged children to involve into the story physically. They are asked to clap their hands to switch on the light and draw shapes for Carter to get through etc. It's a fabulous story book with fantastic illustrations.

This is such a fun book. The story is a simple one about Carter Crocodile trying to find his way back home. He ends up in a few unsuitable places first, getting very cranky. It would be a fair story on its own, but the book is very interactive. It encourages the child to draw with their finger and do things such as tipping the book and blowing on the crocodile. All of these actions have consequences on the next page. We especially enjoyed how the shapes became doors, complete with cut outs that offer glimpses into the next page. My daughter got really involved by the end and enjoyed it. The illustrations are nice, with empty backgrounds and humor added. While toddlers would enjoy aspects of it, I think it really holds its own among preschoolers and early school aged children. They can anticipate what will happen next and get most of the humor. This is a book I'm tempted to take into work for my preschool class. I'm wondering if it would work as a class story. I definitely want to give it a try.

I was taken aback by how much I actually love this book. Each double page has dotted lines for your child to trace with their finger, drawing a "door" for the Dinosaur to go through, into a different setting. It also asks your child to think of places that he could go. I love the interactiveness and the fact that your child feels like they are influencing and helping with the story.

A very clever idea!
