My 4 year old (boy girl) twins both loved this book. Very funny, they laughed out loud at the enormous and unconventional pets! I also like the idea that a girl can be independent, do what she likes and not have to marry a prince if she doesn't want to!

A princess book with a difference.  The parents of Princess Smartypants think that it is high time she gets married. She is told to smarten up and select a husband.  Princes' from far and wide travel to meet Princess Smartypants and offer her their hand. Each is set (an impossible) task, and each fails, meaning that Princess Smartypants will not have to get married.  Until Prince Swashbuckle turns up, who CAN complete all the tasks.  Will Princess Smartypants now have to to get married?

Funny and with a great alternative narrative to the usual princess story, this is one that is sure to make girls both laugh and inspire, and let boys know that girls can be smart and witty and can do more than just get married.

Totally brilliant feminist picture book. It is funny, the illustrations are great and it is fun to read aloud.
Babette Cole's books have not dated and kids enjoy this from 2 upwards. We especially love the ending!

Princess smartypants doesnt want to get married, so she has to come up with a plan. It is a fun book with bright and colourful illustrations. We liked that the pincess would rather live with her pets and do whatever she wanted, rather than get married to a prince. My daughter thought the part where she kissed prince charming and he turned into a toad was really funny.
