Princess Smartypants is full of girl power.  If she had been a Spice Girl, she would have been Royal Spice - zig-a-zig-aah.  Both my daughter and I thought this was a fab frolic of a read and loved the modern, zany characterisation.

Great princess story but without the typical princess! My little girl loved the rescue mission she went on as it really captured her imagination!

This is a fabulous book, I'd never read anything from Babette Cole before but I love her interpretation of everything in the book. She writes about Princesses and Princes but with a modern tone. I just loved the way the Princesses chose the wedding venue because of the disabled access.
All the characters were amazing and the names they have are just so fitting with that modern twist and the humour that the author brings to the story. This could have so easily been broken down into four smaller books, but when you thought it was finished there was still more of the story to go. This made it very good at keeping you gripped as to what was going to happen next.
Ronnii loved the book, she giggled at the funny parts and I'm sure she is now going to love the authors other books. As I am.

This is a good book for my 6 year to read by herself. Princess Smartypantvwith the help from a giant Eric comes to the rescue of 3 princes. The text is large and easy to read and the fast paced storyline keeps my little girl reading

It is a good book - not very long - but still full of adventures. It's about a not so normal princess. It was fun to read. I like the fact that Princess Smartypants does not want to get married - at least one book that doesn't put pressure on girls at this age (they've got time to think about future husbands ). The princess is funny and intelligent. She knows herself very well and she doesn't care much about how she looks  - great example for girls!
I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to children: age 6+.

This is a great book for turning the traditional princess story on its head! Princess Smartypants is a feisty modern day princess who is happily unmarried and throws herself headfirst into all kinds of adventures - definitely not relying on a prince to come to her rescue. It cleverly intertwines some traditional characters into the story and as well as giants and trolls also features mobile phones and bank robberies. As an adult reading it I was a little bothered by a couple of things (like the giant kicking a troll up the bum) but the children thought these were hilarious so only a minor niggle. A great alternative to the traditional princess story and great to see an adventurous female protagonist. We will look for more books in the series.

I tried to read this book to my 6-year-old daughter, who loves stories that are adventurous and fun and maybe this from the start just wasn't her 'thing'.
I understand the concept of the book is about the fact that Princesses 'girls' don't need to get married, or certainly not spend all their time thinking about it, the idea is there but not an easy story to get into.

For me as the adult reading it out aloud, I found all the names of the Princesses and the constant use of them extremely annoying and the story didn't flow.

The book did not grab the attention of my daughter at all, and she quickly got confused as to who was who.
In the end, a third of the way through the book, my daughter asked to have something else read to her, so we put this book to one side. And to be honest however bad I feel about leaving a negative review, I am not sure we will ever pick the book up again to finish it.
