Leo's and Georgie love this book because they like to imagine that it is their Granny who is the main character! The rhyming and rhythm make it a fun and enjoyable read.
The love the bird and dog too and think that the illustrations are funny.
They love that they are part of a 'secret' that they can't tell anyone and so there is always a lot of "shhhhh" after we have read it and we have to pretend that we read something else so we don't give the secret away!!!

This is a fab, cheerful book that we revisit frequently! It's written by a boy who's Granny is a pirate and charts lots of things she's gotten up to - even down to outsmarting skeletons and ghouls.

The rhyming prose is a delight to read out loud and the quirky, playful pictures add lots of opportunity to examine them in detail. My son loves to "read" through it himself and pour over them. The story can be read in less than five minutes if you just want to squeeze in a quick bedtime story.

I suspect this book will have plenty of longevity in it as it'll be something he'll also enjoy reading independenly when he's older.

It's a lovely addition to any child's collection and I highly recommend it.

I read this book myself. It's very good because the Granny looks so cute and happy but she is pirate! My favourite part is when she fights the spooks, I like the way she hits them with her handbag! I love the illustrations, especially her pirate dog.

My 2 year old daughter is pirate potty just now and she adores this book. Lovely rhyming text and fun illustrations.  She loves flicking through on her own looking at the pictures too.
