This is a book that teaches colors and color names to young children, but the lively rhyme goes way beyond basic red and green and blue to such interesting colors as scarlet and chartreuse and azure -- which, when one is five years old, are fun colors to learn to recognize and fun words to learn to say. It will also help with reading comprehension because it is set up in rebus format, with little pictures inserted in the text to represent key words. The type, too, is enlivened with the key color words printed in the actual color they represent.
