A Hilaire Belloc-esque cautionary tale for fussy eaters - you'd better eat up!

Dinnertime isn't easy in Freda's house. Mum cooks beans. YUK!
Grandma cooks fish and chips. YUK!
Dad cooks crispy duck. YUK! YUK! YUK! There just isn't any pleasing Fussy Freda. But her cat is not so fussy - and this causes a culinary catastrophe! This deliciously funny story will have toddlers calling out for more, and more, and MORE! Great rhyming story with fabulous pictures.  We can all relate to Fussy Freda who refuses to eat anything and her parents try all sorts of ways to get her to eat. She ends up shrinking to the size of a mouse. My 5 year old and me found it funny and have enjoyed borrowing this from our library.  We also love Julia Jarman's other books-the big red bath and the big bouncy bed.

What a great story about the importance of eating. Very funny! Lovely pictures and a great storyline! A hit with my boys and my baby and toddler group loved it! They had fun repeating 'Yuk!'

Julia Jarman visited Georgie’s school today for World Book Day and Georgie chose this as one of her books to sign so it is personalised.
We have already read it several times!
It is a funny story of a little girl and her fussy eating, but then it all nearly goes very wrong for her and she becomes a totally ‘unpicky’ (Georgie’s word!) eater.
There are lots ofnoppprtunities for children to join in with repetition, and it rhymes as well to give a nice sing-song feel.

Freda is a very fussy eater and although all her family members try valiantly to get her to eat she refuses until she shrinks and disaster strikes. A cautionary tale for fussy eaters!

This book has clear text and bright pictures which make it easy to read aloud.

We read this book over the summer. My daughter really enjoyed joining in with the repetitive parts of the story 'yuk, yuk, yuk'. It was a great book to show how actually you might like some things if you just give them a try.
