Sorry for the very later review........!

This book is wonderful and explains the journey and job of the bee in a delightful way.
It has become a firm favourite for my little boys at bedtimes and it has taught them about bees and pollination.
Lovely pictures and we'll thought out to explain simply.

Lovely illustrations and a nice idea to have a cut through bit of the page, makes it different to other books. Nice rhyming story of a bee finding flowers and telling the other bees. My 3 year old liked to spot all the other creatures hiding in the illustrations. It has quite a few more unusual words which needed explainin to my daughter (burr, for example), but it has expanded her vocabulary! Came across this book after reading Seasons Come Seasons Go by the same author.

Beautiful book, the illustrations are gorgeous and there is a clever construction where you look through a hexagon/honeycomb shape to see the bees. It's a lovely gently story which describes how a bee helps pollinate our plants, so it's educational as well as entertaining. The story is told in rhyme, which many children (such as my son) absolutely love. It's a lovely story in its own right, but also a great way to learn about how important bees are to us. Ideal for reading at the beginning of summer (but enjoyable any time of the year!).

This is a lovely rhyming story with a factual basis. The illustrations are colourful in a gentle muted way and we loved the hexagonal cut-outs. The boy loves Science so was interested in finding out about pollination. Even though this is a picture book and could be enjoyed at a simple level by younger children, the subject matter easily kept the boy's interest and he got a lot out of it.

Absolutely gorgeous book. I read this with my 6 year old daughter and we were both won over by how stunning the design of the book is. The illustrations are beautiful and my daughter enjoyed spotting the various animals that appear on each page.
The story is both informative and engaging. She is taking the book into her school to share with her class as she enjoys it so much.
Highly recommend.

This book was so enjoyable. It has simple and beautiful illustrations of plants, animals, and insects. The cover and pages are robust, with a nice texture to the cover. There are honeycomb shaped cutouts on most pages that draw you in. The text is short and rhyming. While it seems simple, it introduces quite a lot of vocabulary. And it gently teaches the concept of pollination, while demonstrating the importance of bees. I think this would be a perfect book for bedtime or other times that you would like to calm a child. My 3 year old also loved the book and said that she really liked the red flowers. I'd recommend this book to anyone with young children.

Bee is a book remarkable for its richness: the richness of its illustrations, words, content and production quality. Britta Teckentrup is an exceptional illustrator and her illustrations for Bee are wonderfully textured, beautifully detailed and full of colour and life. There's so much to look at and marvel at on each page. She captures nature's diversity and vibrancy in every scene.

The pages are die cut; a hexagon has been cut out from each page. The bee is visible through this cut-out and it frames this tiny, but vital, creature as she flies across each page. The shape is also a nice allusion to honeycomb.

The text, by Patricia Hegarty, is written in verse and the rhymes add to the read-aloud appeal. The range of vocabulary is impressive and the language is evocative and beautiful.
"Water trickles, bubbles and weaves,
A weeping willow trails its leaves."

The book itself gives us a wonderful insight into the life and work of a bee. Children will learn about pollination: how bees are attracted to flowers by their colour and perfume; about the transfer of pollen from plant to plant; and about the work of the hive. Crucially, they will come to understand the amazing life-giving power of bees and how vital they are to our planet's survival.

Yet again, I have been bowled over by Britta Teckentrup. This is a stunning book and one which we will treasure and enjoy for years.

A beautiful, educational book about nature and the bees important life and journey. Sophie is One this week. She loves the hexagon cut out, feeling it. The book cover is a nice touchy feely book that she likes the texture off. The illustrations are beautiful and inspires her inagation. It's a lovely rhyming story that she will get more and more out of as the years go by. She was smiling and listening intently as I read this to her in one go.
This should be in every primary school. Such a lovely book.

This book has taught my kids so much. There is so much to see on each page. Keep an eye out for the caterpillar and what happens at the end of the book. This is a great way to teach kids about bees and how they are not scary and are in fact very helpful to flowers.

This is a beautiful book - the illustrations are just lovely and Li loved the Bee on every page in the cutout section.  we followed the bee through the book, learning all about what the bee gets up to and how he  makes his honey.  It has a lovely rhyming text, so the children can pick up and learn the book with you really quickly! I would highly recommend this book - it is a real joy to read with children, and very educational! x

A gentle tale of what bees do and why their work is important. The story of one bee is told using rhyming couplets - we follow her through her day as she flies from flower to flower, pollinating them as she goes, before telling her hive that they must do the same. The pictures are beautiful, and there are cut out hexagonals which help to make the book fun and engaging to young minds. You are never to young to learn about nature and this is a great book to introduce the role of bees in our lives. Highly recommended.

This a beautifully illustrated books following the life of a bee. It's a great way to introduce the facts about pollination to younger children. My daughter really enjoyed reading this, and asked lots of questions about what was happening. It clearly stuck with her as she is able to recall things from the book when we spot bees in the garden.

This book is like a big poem. My favourite bit of poetry in this book is when they said "for every plant and flower you see was given life by one small bee".
