Seth, Beefy and Angelo can't believe it when they aren't selected for the football team at their new school. And things only get worse when they are labelled the 'freaks' who didn't make it. Do they give up on their dreams, or do they find a way to show coach Steele and his squad that they're wrong? And so FREAKS UNITED is born - and the team plans to live up to its name!

A fun footballing story about the kids who don't get picked.

There are 3 main characters who didn't get chosen for their football team at school so they make their own! Its an interesting story with some funny bits. My favourite character is Alan as he is very silly. Even though the book is about a football team you don't have to like football to enjoy the book.

A great underdog storey where you really want Seth and his friend (the freaks United) to come out on top. Lots of humour read this in chapters and couldn't wait for the next. Definitely recommend this book as my little girl loved it.

Freaks United was a funny and feisty read, and sure will please boys of all ages ! One of the flaws was that I am girl, and the second one was that I don't really like football .
But it doesn't matter ; I love this book all the same ! The concept was about winning and losing and getting picked and not getting picked . Seth was the more lighter one of the gang, though he did sometimes get angry .
And Beefy, well , he's beefy . Angelo reminds of a stick, or a piece of wire that's been twisted one too many times . I loved the characters and their descriptions , and I hope to read more from John Hickman in the meantime !!!!!

This book was not what I expected from the cover. It is about kids that are always picked last for the sports teams. A really nice story about friendship and proving people wrong. I really liked it.

3 friends aren't picked for the football team, so they make their own team-freaks united. I enjoyed this book. I wasn't that sure at first as I am not a massive football fan, but despite that it was still good. It was funny, and I was laughing out loud at times, and I liked that it was about the less popular kids. There were no illustrations, but this didn't really matter as the book wasn't too long anyway, and the chapters were quite short. It was a fun, easy read

I like Freaks United because I like football and I like how Seth, Angelo and Begly make a team of eleven players in just one week.  I don't like how the football manager acts and calls people freaks just because they don't make the school football team. He calls Seth a slow runner, he calls Beefy a bit podgy and overweight, and he calls Angelo a liability.  They form their own team, but to find out if they win or lose in a battle between them and the school team you will have to read Freaks United for yourself (It is a really good book, Yeah!!)
