Beanotown is in trouble again and this time the threat is Jurassic!

The Mayor is determined to capture some of the pre-historic inhabitants of Duck Island for display in the zoo and will stop at nothing to get his way. Together, Dennis and Gnasher set out to thwart the Mayor's horrible plan and save the day.

Minnie, on hearing the news that an island of dinosaurs is situated so close to home, sees an opportunity that can not be missed. She wants a pet and what could be more awesome than a raptor?

Upon arrival it soon becomes clear that no-one's plans are going the way they expect. Enraged, the Mayor decides to wreck the alien do-hicky thingy-ma-bob that stops the island expanding. Now the whole town is in trouble. Strange meat-eating plants flop through the streets, there's dinosaurs in the supermarket, swimming pool and cinema, and raptors are riding the subway. The only way to get things back to 'normal' is to put the do-hicky thingy-ma-bob back together. But for that, they'll need Gran's help.

Dennis's latest adventure is filled with epic fun, from raptors to an enormous Gnashersaurus-Rex, Vikings to Victorians, and a series of interactive puzzles for YOU, the reader, to complete. Can YOU help Dennis navigate the island and save Beanotown from the pre-historic invasion?

We really enjoyed this book and found the story very funny. My son has heard of Dennis the Menace and Gnasher but has never read the Beano. He was very intrigued by the characters and he also loves dinosaurs so was keen to read the book. Everything made us laugh, even the words from the author at the start of the book which included a very mysterious elephant. The black and white drawings in the book are great and the puzzles add a fantastic, interactive element to the story. We would definitely like to read more Dennis and Gnasher stories.

While this book is not in the traditional Beano comic style, this madcap Dennis adventure will certainly appeal to Beano fans. It still has great humour, illustrations and regular characters such as Minnie the Minx and Walter. Obviously, you do not need to be a Dennis fan to enjoy this book, children who love funny stories, Horrid Henry and dinosaurs will also enjoy this story.

I was impressed with this book.  It isn't a comic and is black and white, but it really holds your attention as it has a full story to read and some pictures.  It's aimed at the older reader - my 12 year old Son loved it, and would be a good read for an older child who is possibly a reluctant reader but enjoys comics.

This isn't what I was expecting. It is a short novel, with black and white illustrations, rather than a cartoon strip book as you would expect from it being about the Dennis the Menace, the famous character of so many comics. It is somewhat tamer, more politically correct than the comics. All in all ' a bit weird, but funny' was the general consensus.

This was a great, funny story to introduce my son to Beano. It’s an Illustrated story rather than comic.

I used to love the Beano as a kid so it was fun to read a story involving so many familiar characters.  A mysterious "shrunken" island full of tiny dinosaurs  makes for quite a wacky tale.  I think we both felt there was almost too much going on though - at times (as the adult reading along) it felt like a load of random chapters just chucked together and lacked flow.  Because of this I thought it was a bit confusing at times to know who was where/doing what.
We loved the puzzles that were thrown in amongst the story though - a fun way to interact with the story.
