I really enjoyed learning about how to make our planet healthier but found it very sad that animals are harmed by pollution.  I liked the pictures as they helped me to understand more about different types of pollution. The book has made me think about keeping the Earth tidied. I think this is a really good book to help children learn about the environment.

This book cover really caught my eye and I thought it would be a great learning and aid for my daughters to look at, read and talk about.
My daughter who is 7 this week is improving her reading so was happy to flick through the book first the problem  of waste was a bit of an eye opener that with the landfill photos shocked her and she wanted more facts and why. She is now in charge of our blue food bin and talks about not wasting our food.
She already donates books and clothes she doesn’t need anymore.
She did find knowing where her poo goes disgusting but says she will never ask for a bag at the supermarket.
A great book for all ages I have learnt a lot reading bits and pieces and definitely a conversation starter around most things. Great illustrations, brilliant photos facts shown in a good layout and highlighted. A book you can dip in and out of all the time.

With so much being destroyed in the world this book is a real eye opener. It shows what happens to waste and it’s effect on our planet. Bella loves it as she’s on a mission to clean up our town. I think every kid should read this and inspire others to change.
Great illustrations and facts.

This is a great book for any young eco-warrior who wants to find out more about the impact on human lifestyles on the planet. There is lots of easy to digest information about pollution, the oceans, recycling, fashion, plastic that explains what is happening, why and what young people can do about it. The book is very positive and helps children to understand what they can do to enable change to happen - it's very inspiring and empowering (when sometimes the news about the damage to the planet can be quite scary). With two children who already do beach cleans and love nature this book has been an amazing source of ideas for more ways in which they can help save the planet.  Favourite section? Why the bit on poo and sewers, of course!

This book is extremely informative about the different way we are polluting our planet and the negative long lasting damage the pollution is causing.

Information is in clear understandable chunks for children with fantastic illustrations to match the content. Which helps with understanding the information.

We have enjoyed this book as a family and learnt a great deal.

A very informative book of all things bas foe the planet. My daughter has a growing concern for pollution and plastic waste and is determined to do her bit. This book helped explain in a very child friendly format, the different waysinwhich we are harming the planet, and what is being done about it.
It did feel rather depressing and negative to begin with, as the focus of the book is to highlight the impact humans have on the planet, but it the author makes a a point to talk about what is being/can be done to help alleviate the problems.

I like it because it tells me about rubbish. I don't like it that people are wasting things and throwing things into the sea and this book helps me not to do that. Reading the book makes me feel surprised people are wasting things so I told my friends not to and I've been recycling. Thank you so much.

This wonderful book tackles a big subject in a child friendly way. Well presented with illustrations and photographs, the book is engaging for all ages and the information is broken down into light manageable pieces. It's a serious and important matter than can be scary to a young child, my six year old worries about what she has heard about waste and its effect on the environment. This book has such a positive, inspiring feel that after reading it she feels empowered to help and already is making changes to how she views her things and sharing this new knowledge with her friends. I highly recommend this book for all.

This is a really colourful and engaging book about waste, recycling and the environment. It starts with an overview (several pages) of issues facing the planet and then goes into more detail about waste. The illustrations and photographs are really appealing and each spread has been well designed, for example the one on single use plastic has one page with shelves showing single use plastic items, and one page with shelves showing alternatives. Although there is a lot of information it doesn't feel overwhelming as so much is conveyed through the illustrations and photographs. My 7 year old loved the poo spread, of course... There are suggestions at the end for what we can do about it and further resources to look at. This is a really good example of a great non-fiction book for children.

What a waste is a brilliant book as it tells you information about how our world and sea are dying. The author has even drawn pictures to help you to understand the text. I also liked the 'Did you know' boxes that give you extra information. What I liked about the book was every little fact got stuck in your head. The only thing that I didn't like was that there were some quite big words to understand, but there is a glossary at the back to help you with those! It has given us lots of advice about how to keep our planet clean and to stop plastic pollution so we are inspired to make a difference.

Yes, it's for ages 7, 8 and 9, but many adults would also  benefit from reading this book! Great introduction to how much waste we actually produce and how the resources we take for granted (wood, water, minerals, fossil fuels) are not never-ending. Also covers the greenhouse effect, deforestation, renewable energy etc, all with loads of diagrams and pictures that make it easier to read and understand. My son has even taken it into school to share with his teacher and classmates.
