When Chester discovers he can mind jump, his sister Amy wastes no time in putting his new skills to work boosting the viewing figures on her video blog. And when a TV company takes them global, he does his most daring mind jump yet, into the brain of Tito the gorilla. The trouble is, when he tries to return to his own body - it's gone!

Has it been stolen? But who would want it, and why? And how come Chester suddenly has the urge to search Amy's hair for fleas? The quest to find the answers takes him on a journey beyond his wildest imagination.

A fast-paced, mind-boggling and hilarious yet thought-provoking read from the author of The Imagination Box series.

I was a little skeptical about the title and the blurb on the back, and was worried that it might be another book which is trying to be funny and 'down with the kids'. However, after the initial part of the book introduces you to the different characters it actually becomes quite deep, and complex. The stories and characters strengthened and start to interweave with each other. I especially like the shock and horror that a few particular moments produce - almost Tarantino like! The relationship between Chester and his sister is also explored more deeply. It could be a useful book for children dealing with the loss of a parent as Chester is scarred by the loss of his dad, even though he doesn't really recognise that at first. With its body swapping and brain taker overs it is in a similar vein to Bzrk by Michael Grant, and could be too much for Lower Key Stage Two children. However, it is an easy read and keeps you really engaged the whole way through, wondering, just wondering if Chester will ever escape the gorilla!

I really liked the character of Chester and only wish I too had his ability to mind jump! The book started a bit slowly but it warmed up quickly and I loved it when he lost his body, it really made me laugh!

Cheater Parsons is not a gorilla .or a bird . Or even a teenager named Amy . He is a mind jumper , and though he could be any of these things , there's something he wants a lot more :his body ! . Budding actor Chester has it all going for him , he's going to be a movie star , his stage frights  gone , and he has a great new super power to play with . Unfortunately , this is not to last .rejected in the final auidition, he reluctantly uses his mind jumping abilities to attract views for a new show , Amy and Chester . the show goes horribly wrong when he loses his body . Restricted to tito the gorilla , he journeys to find his body . This story proves that even unlikely hero's  (and villains ) can create an epic adventure . I loved this book . It has all the good bits of his other books and more . This a wonderful , light hearted adventure for all the family . For 8+

This book was a good read, has lots of different elements to it, such as humour, but also serious and deep in places, and had things I could relate to, such as the sibling relationship. It was exciting in places, creative and made you think, and you want to keep reading, due to the great plot. I liked the bit where Chester mind jumps into a rat, but another mind jumper had already beat him to it.

Fantastic book

Read this book whilst I was in hospital to keep myself sane from all the boredom of not being able to get up off the bed for a few days.

Well what can say other than this book is absolutely fabulous. The story is fantastic and has a lovely twist in the plot. Even though I had guessed who did it this didn't stop me from reading on. It has a good balance of funny bits with some sad bits and an excellent pace to the the story. Well wrote and I thoroughly enjoyed the story from start to end.

I can highly recommend this book. Even the lady in the bed directly opposite me wanted details about the book so she could go and buy a copy too.

Chester Parsons is Not a Gorilla is a hilarious mystery book from an ordinary, budding movie-star Chester Parsons. Or, at least, that's what he thinks. Until he discovers that he can mind jump - transferring his consciousness into anyone or anything he wants to. Life is good. In fact, Chester is certain that he has also got the lead role in a new movie, and he is feeling great. But then he gets rejected.

From then on, Chester and his sister Amy start a new TV series, Chester's body gets stolen, and he is stuck as a gorilla. Together, with Detective Pepper and Silent Cameraman, Chester and Amy go on a courageous adventure to find out who has taken his body and get it back again. The fabulous plot line, full of twists and turns, has a great ending and extremely unexpected turn of events right at the end. I would certainly recommend it to anyone aged 9+ as it is great fun and highly engaging.

This book has been a delightful read! Funny and surreal! My class have often gasped, laughed, and chuckled as I read this story to them. The storyline feels unusually unique! We've not read a similar book and I think that's quite an achievement today!
Chester is a charming character who's relationship with his sister is one which many readers could relate to. Their sibling bond is apparent but their squabbles and disagreements make them feel so real. In contrast, the mind jumping element of the story is so fantastical! This book really absorbs the reader and you feel part of Chester's world.
A great read!

I found it was a slow start though and i had to force myself to continue reading, I'm glad i did as it picked up and became more adventurous and funny. It made me wish i could jump into others minds but not for long! What a super power to have

I really enjoyed this book because of all of the characters such as, Chester Parsons. The main character gets called a gorilla because he can mind jump into different bodies but his sister LOSER Amy does not believe him until he turns into a rat. That bit was really funny as he wanted to get cheese but it was in a mousetrap. This book is sort of an adventure seeing as he can mind jump. But he really just wants to go back to his normal self. This book made all my emotions explode; it was happy, funny and gave me lots of joy. There was no pictures but i could picture the story in my head because of the good description. This book I would definitely recommend 100 percent. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

I really enjoyed this Chester Parsons is not a gorilla. It's funny and exiting.  I would love the power to jump through minds like Chester does although I'd definatley keep it a secret so that no one would know. I definatley wouldn't let my sister talk me into doing it on a TV show where it all goes wrong and Chesters body goes missing.

I enjoyed this fast paced story, it's funny and family friendly and great for children aged 8 +
