Collins Arabic Big Cat is a guided reading series for ages 3 to 11. The series is structured with reference to the learning progression of Arabic at nursery and primary schools researched especially for Collins. This carefully graded approach allows children to build up their reading knowledge of Arabic step by step.
Collins Big Cat Arabic Starter Pack contains 29 titles across all 16 levels. Level 1 introduces the letters of the alphabet and levels 2 and 3 introduce simple words. The series is then structured following a careful progression, with reading levels gradually becoming more challenging. The language structures covered in the books get harder gradually, so by level 16 children are familiar with a wide range of language structures. Fiction titles at the higher levels feature more complex plots and longer stories, and non-fiction titles include use complex vocabulary and deal with interesting and challenging themes, such as global warming. Texts also include dramatic and humorous language, and rhyme and alliteration.
