It was very easy to give this book five stars, in fact I was instructed to by a very serious six year old!

This fantastic book is an amazing, comprehensive, and sensitively written book to help children navigate their way through numerous emotions, from happiness, sadness, anger and grief.  It also covers the emotions around divorce and separation, pet loss and so much more.  It isn't just a text book of words to be read, but with lots of great diagrams, helping to explain the physical and emotional effects.  it also has lots of really useful exercises to be used as tools to understand and help with some of those overwhelming emotions that children struggle to handle.

It is beautifully laid out, manageable amounts of texts and a truly wonderful book which I believe every child should have access to!  I have ranted about this book to everyone I know.  But as a parent it's not just me who sees the benefit from this, I keep finding my daughter looking through it! Go buy it, then buy a copy for a friend!!

This book is really good to get children to understand their feelings. I feel there isn't enough books to explain to kids about mental health etc and this is a brilliant book to support them and to understand it's normal to feel a certain way. My son has recently lost his nan, and this book has showed him that it's ok to talk about his feelings and to get it out rather than bottle it up. It's a really colourful book and it explains it in terms children will understand. The illustrations are cool and Daniel particularly pointed out the sad person showing a happy face. I would highly reccomend it.

Mental well being for children is high on the agenda for many parents and schools at the moment, and this book is an incredibly good choice for anyone who wants to explore different feelings with a child.  The book covers 4 main emotions - happy, angry, fear and sadness, and each section is well written, informative and engaging.  For example, in the happy section the book explores 'what is happiness?' and gives the science behind how being happy helps your body.  Fascinating facts, combined with bright, colourful photos and images really help to develop what the section is about.  There are some great tips and techniques given in each section to help the child through that emotion; in 'anger' the tips given can be easily used by the child in a home or school situation, and I was pleased to note that this section also covered 'what is fairness?' and talked about how being angry is linked to 'unfairness' and 'jealously' - emotions a child can easily be going through.  In the 'fear' section I really liked the separation & divorce advice and info the book gave - clear, simple and compassionate advice that was written at just the right level for a child.  In 'sadness' the book looked at what happens to people's emotions when a pet dies, and, again, the book had a lot of good advice.
The section at the end, which is all about 'the wonder of you' links in well with how schools are dealing with mental well being, it even contains a reference to 'the learning pit' which many schools have adopted to help children become resilient and resourceful learners.  There was a great thesaurus page at the end for the 4 main sections, and a handy glossary.
It's a good non-fiction book that teachers can easily use from year R to year 6, and parents can use it to talk and help their own child to understand what they, or their friends, may be feeling and why.  I would definitely recommend this book for boys or girls from 5 - 12.  It's bright, colourful and informative; perfect for the mental well being of a child and their adult!

We had a look at this book together this afternoon. It is excellent and I would definitely recommend it for parents with primary children. It is more of a book to share with a child than for them to read on their own. However, it is incredibly accessible: colourful pages, lots of bright, bold images, good use of short phrases, emboldened words, cartoony almost Mr Men like figures for representing the various emotions, clear break down of sections. Nevertheless, I found that there was a lot to discuss and explain to my son as result of reading this book.

We liked the 'bowl of happiness' image at the start of the book (Ingredients for happiness). The pages on Anger Issues were particularly useful. My son found the page of Anger as an iceberg helpful. This brought up some questions about 'angry' individuals in the classroom/playground and I hope it has given my son some room for thought in this respect. I found the five tips on helping to defuse your angry helpful ( I hadn't ever heard about taking 'deep breaths and blow (ing) into your hands' before.) My son was surprised about  the Ingredients of tears section/image and why it is helpful to have a good cry. The Bullying section was a good reminder to my son on what to do if you are bullied, see someone being bullied or you are the bully. Very clear and to the point.

Overall, a handy book particularly to help children face both their own and other people's complicated emotions.

My Son and myself sat down and read sections of this book together.  Mindfulness is something we have tried to explore as a household and growth mindset is something that is explored at school so this book gave us a platform to further explore these issues.
The book is set out into four main themes; happiness, anger, fear and sadness and uses a mixture of text and pictures in bright welcoming colours.  The book has something for a variety of ages and is probably suited for any primary age child to dip in and out of.
The book gives a basic explanation of feeling as well as some tips for how to deal with issues.  We particularly liked "breathe yourself calm" simple breathing exercises that can be done at anytime.
This is not a book that you will sit down and read from cover to cover but a great resource that we will refer to at various points when we want to discuss emotions further.
I think everyone can get something from this book children and adults.

I enjoyed reading book on 'My Mixed Emotions' as it was easy to read and was full of information about different emotions. The Book contains facts about different emotions like Happiness, Anger, Fear, Sadness etc and how to control your emotions. The Emojis were cute and informative along with beautiful illustrations and proverbs. I learnt a lot from this book and would recommend this book to all children as it would help them a lot. This had been my best book ever with lots of tips and inspiration.

My Mixed Emotions is an interesting book for kids which identify different types of emotions and the ways to deal with them. I liked the way such an important information is presented in an interesting way which is easy for a child to understand. I absolutely loved this book and would use this for my child to help her understand her emotions and to explore different ways to cope with them.

I love this book. My children both said that this book is great, they love the bright colours , the illustrations and feel it is easy to read.
I work with a lot of children who struggle to identify or talk about their emotions and this book will now be part of my resources.

I love that the book is in a language that children can understand, that it explains emotions, why you get them and physical aspects of them emotions. I also like the fact that it includes ways to cope with emotions like Anger.

It is great that it links to stuff they are doing at school too - Around bullying and mindfulness
