Cat has made a mess and she won't tidy it up - no matter how many times Dog asks her. Can Dog convince Cat, a giraffe and two penguins to clean up this very messy book?
Children will laugh out loud at the quirky illustrations from the exciting new talent Richard Smythe (Beep Beep Beep Time For Sleep!) and will pore over the fabulously clever design. Packed with humour and adorably funny animal characters, The Messy Book is the perfect story for anyone who has ever been told to tidy their room. A great book to use as a springboard to discuss the importance of cleaning and tidiness, and more widely about environmental issues.

A short little story perfect for little ones about a VERY messy cat and & other animals who try to help him clean up but he's not very good at it! Lovely illustrations for kids to follow through each page which helps hold their attention. My sons favourite part was the giraffe & his hat which made him laugh! Not sure it will inspire my son to be any less messy but we both really enjoyed reading together.

A funny short book that kept my little man entertained. The book is about a set of animals who need to tidy up but throughout the story they encounter lots of problems when it comes to tidying up.
The book has lots of beautiful illistrations that are great for children to look at and follow and the book is a new favourite at bedtime. The book is bright, bold, has a great story line and also is very funny.

This was a very enjoyable book, and I liked that it was a hardback. Cat makes a mess, Dog is asking her to tidy up but she won't. Dog makes plenty of efforts to get Cat to tidy up, offering to help but she just wants to shove it in a corner, jump on it, give the mess to other animals etc. My daughter found the book funny, and she could relate to the story. We liked the quirky illustrations, her favourite bit was when Cat hoovered up all the mess up, then it all exploded out of the hoover making a mess everywhere again. They did eventually tidy up in the end, and had a party, which then resulted in more mess. A very enjoyable book.

A lovely story about a messy cat and his friends who all try and help him tidy up!  We particularly liked the giraffe and his love of hats!

This is a delightful book all about a cat, a dog and a huge pile of mess! It's illustrated in a charming way - my son loved the layers in the pictures. I personally loved giraffe in this, looking for different hats to wear made me laugh. The story read wonderfully, and I would certainly recommend the book for boys or girls aged 3 - 6 years old. It's charming and would make a fabulous gift!

This book arrived at the perfect time - just as I was beginning the battle of encouraging my son to tidy up.

It's a story about a cat and a dog and lots of mess. It's a lovely story with great pictures and it has a great moral to it without being pushy and in your face.

It begins with a large picture of mess and one character saying lets tidy up and the other saying no we will just push it over here and hide it. They even push it into the sea where the animals there aren't very happy about it! Eventually they decide that rather than hiding it or just moving it they will tidy up properly and when they do they get a party.

The language and pictures used are great, nice and engaging for young readers and after reading the book my son was a tiny bit more inclined to tidy up although not much.

This book is very funny and very colourful. Cat has made a mess and Dog is trying to convince her to tidy it up. Chaos ensues when Cat tries to hide the mess in the jungle and in the ocean and even tries hoovering up all the mess. A lovely story with great illustrations. There are many different animal characters and they all get to join in the fun and chaos that the large mess makes in the book. We really liked this story especially the page which simply says 'BOOM'. A lovely read to share with little ones and great for sparking imaginations.

A charming and quirky book enlisting a cat and a dog to help my little ones understand how to tidy up! It was entertaining and relatable (seeing as my niece is 4 and my nephew is nearly 2). The illustrations are beautiful and other characters are involved too. It taught us a lesson: help everyone to tidy up. It isn't a traditional story that follows a regular plot but it's a nice change.

A delightful book about tidying up a mess.  It is a good day of showing children that making shortcuts in tidying up will not work and it is worth doing properly!
With funny illustrations and a comic book feel my four year old was kept amused during the story.
Easy to read and the illustration allows discussion during and after the story has finished.
I would recommend to Amy parent trying to engage a child in tidying messy rooms. Thumbs up!

An interestingly laid out book, with a short punchy writing style, comic-like and slightly nonsensical! A messy cat is encouraged to tidy up with funny consequences. Wonderfully illustrated with amusing characters and scenarios. A shot but sweet, quirky book that will get you giggling.

My little girl really enjoyed reading this to me, falling into fits of giggles on most pages, especially at the giraffe with the hat and the anticipation of the exploding Hoover!! My daughter found the story really amusing as much of it rang true and could have been about her and myself and the constant battle to 'tidy up her mess!'
This is a lovely book, with engaging, bold illustrations that hold a child's attention and gives more to discuss, once the story has been read.
We both really enjoyed this and have had many giggles throughout, we would recommend this. Thank you Toppsta, another great book.

Great little book that was very enjoyable for both us to read. My niece is 5 and loved the story of the messy cat. She will still be messy, but it was a fun book that we both enjoyed.
