The Elfree Stories

One day, while walking in the woods, the author came upon an elf. He bowed and said his name was Elfree of The Leaf. Many encounters followed with stories of teaching a cat to dance, of storm goblins, frogs, dragonflies, the Wizard of Ravity, and many other tales of woodland and elfin lore. These stories were originally written and sent as letters, never intended for publication, to the author's grandchildren in Australia, with illustrations decorating the margins of the letters. Many of these illustrations are reproduced in the book. The letters also describe how Elfree lives in the forest around the author's home. Unable to talk in prose, because he finds it difficult while dancing and always on the move, Elfree talks in rhyme. Children will enjoy the rhyme, the illustrations, the humour, the story lines, and the occasional big words. (NB Elves do exist so these stories are 'partly fact, partly fiction and partly just fun.')
