The sixth Hugless Douglas adventure - his first day at school - in this bestselling series with over 1.4 million copies sold to date in 26 languages. Douglas is very excited to be going to Little School. There is so much to do - and lots of hugs to be given out! David Melling is one of the UK's best-loved author-illustrators and his sixth book about Douglas the brown bear is as funny and compelling as the first. It combines brilliantly imaginative illustrations with an endearing sense of what it is like to be a small child learning about the world. Hello, Hugless Douglas! was a World Book Day picture book in 2014. 'A new Hugless Douglas book is always a cause for celebration.' - Daily Mail

What a wonderful book. My three year old son was gifted this book from our childminder at the end of term to ease his nerves about starting preschool in September .  It’s a wonderful silly story exploring the feelings a small child has about starting school , explores what activities will be enjoyed through the school day and of course includes lots of hugs. Fabulous illustrations to be enjoyed by all.

This was a great starting school book. We've already read a few of the Hugless Douglas books and liked them so chose this one from the library to help with school settling in. Douglas is a lovely big bear who loves to hug. It was nice that the story incorporated a few nerves about school (a tickle in the tummy) to show that it's ok to be a bit nervous. We enjoyed reading it together and used it as an opportunity to have tickles and hugs as they appeared in the story which made the whole thing hilarious for my daughter.
