"I've lost my mum!" Where is Monkey's mummy? It's not too much fun being lost in the jungle, and little monkey wants his mum. Kindly butterfly is keen to help, but they don't seem to be having much luck and keep finding the wrong animals! But eventually, they find . . . Dad! This is my favourite Julia Donaldson story and one of my all time favourite children's books. I've read it to all my children over the years and it's always been a hit. The characters are endearing. The story has a funny twist and the illustrations are fantastic. Lots of lovely animals to look at and easy to follow rythmic words that children love to join in with.

Monkey Puzzle is one of my favourite books to read to the children and they love it too. The illustrations are fantastic with such vibrant and fun pictures to keep the children engaged and the descriptions used allow the children to guess what's coming next, they particularly love when the elephant appears, again! It is a lovely rhyming book with a great message and a nice surprise at the end for monkey!

Monkey loses his mum and a butterfly tries to help him find her. But everytime butterfly asks if this is his mum, he says 'No no no, elephant doesn't look like me.' It's a great book, with lovely illustrations and it's rhymes and flows well. A classic book!!

Monkey Puzzle is still one of Leo's favorite stories, with wonderful rhyming text by Julia Donaldson and striking illustrations by Axel Scheffler. Butterfly is trying to help the little monkey who has lost his mum. Leo loves joining in with the repetition of "No, no, no!", as the butterfly misunderstands the monkey's description of his mum and finds the wrong animal. Eventually the little monkey discovers why Butterfly keeps getting it wrong and he is helped back home to mum. It's a lovely story for reading out loud together.

Another lovely Julia Donaldson book, with lots of rhyme and a rhythm that young children adore. The baby monkey has lost its mum and is trying to find her. A butterfly tries to help by suggesting animals with specific characteristics that the monkey mentions. My daughter loves listening to the story and squeals whenever the butterfly guesses incorrectly. A classic!

All 3 of my children loved this book!  We've read it over and over and over and over.  My daughter used this book to help her learn to read when she was younger - and she still loves this book even though she's 14!  A sweet little story about a young monkey who has lost his way in the jungle.  Luckily a helpful butterfly offers to help him out.  The little monkey tries to describe what his mum looks like but the butterfly keeps getting it wrong, because of course her babies look nothing like her.  They visit many animals but every time its the wrong one.  Until they visit an Elephant for a second time and the monkey explains that his mum actually looks like him but bigger.  And that's when they find Dad!  Mix this book with sound affects and different voices and you've got a real comical story.  Absolutely love it

A fab rhyming story that teaches children about caterpillars and butterflies in a fun way. It gets children looking at the differences and similarities in animals and how they would describe them. We had lots of fun trying to guess what animal the butterfly would go to next and loved the cuddly ending.

My little girl loves to read this book at the moment.  It's not my favourite Julia Donaldson book, but the illustrations are fantastic (there is lots of jungle creatures for my daughter to point at and practice her animal noises with) and I do enjoy the logic of the butterfly not realising that she should have been looking for another monkey because none of her babies look like her.
