This book is excellent for developing drawing and doodling skills from looking at perspective to perfecting forever cool  bubble writing, this book had somthing for everyone to try. I think this will be perfect on long holiday journeys and Filling in “bored” moments whilst on holiday.
We loved the quality of the book with its hardback cover and lovely soft pages that had great easy to follow illustrations and instructions printed on them.

Elijah loves to doodle and sketch and thinks this My Holiday Drawing Book is really cool - perfect for occupying kids his age (6) and above for hours and hours: on a long car journey, while stuck an airport and even by the pool on holiday.

Me, his mum, likes it a lot too. It’s hardback and elasticated, the good quality you’d expect from the Lonely Planet brand, and inspires creativity: a welcome relief from the electronic entertainment my kids seek so often!

As well as lots of prompts and space to sketch: destination signposts, stick men, family portraits, hats... the list goes on... There’s also a lot of technical guidance too: from shading and contouring to perspective.

It’s a great book we’ll fill out on our next holiday and treasure for years to come.

Saving for her holiday but we have had a flick through the book without doing the tasks. It's sure to be a great boredom buster while waiting in lines at the airport, on the plane and in the taxi! It has something for everyone to join in with, some things that are more difficult and easier tasks for quicker times. Perfect!

We think this book is brilliant and will give hours of fun learning to draw, sketch and scribble your adventures.  It is a book not just for going away on holiday but for anytime to develop your imagination of drawing.  As soon as we received the book in the post we wanted to get our pencils out and start, the book is so inviting.  I think this is a book would be good for a variety of ages young and old.

My daughter is livening this book. It has so many pages for her to practise her drawing skills and to to inspire her to draw new things. We have done a few pages already, and I can see it is already helping her develop her artistic skills. Some of the content seems a little advanced for her, such as looking at perspective, but it will be a good thing to talk about and maybe look at artists who obviously use these techniques in their work.

We saved this book as we were going on a month long holiday, it was perfect for using on the flight, whilst we were away and full of useful tips that my daughter can use onwards. She loved her special book too.
Definitely recommend for anyone going away.

Eleanor loved this book! She is massively in to drawing and doodling at the moment that it kept her quite for over 2 hours on our flight last month!
We have several of the lonely planet activity books and they all meet a very high standard when it comes to entertaining my girls!
As well as being fun it's also educational, like all the lonely planet books. It gets the child to look at perspectives and light and shade and other ways to draw.
Highly recommended.
Eleanor's review on this book was that she enjoyed the making faces page the most and she loved the page 'my holiday' where she mapped out her holiday aspirations!

This book is a great size for children to take along on holiday and keep a record of their trip. It has a sturdy hardback cover which is great if you don't always have a table to sit at. There's also a strap to keep the book closed when it's not being used. There are lots of drawing activities and tips to inspire creativity and develop skills. Leo has had fun writing and drawing on the about me and warm up pages and is looking forward to the other activities on our next trip, especially the horizon line and street signs. Some blank pages for more free drawing space would have been good.

My daughter really enjoyed looking through this book and is looking forward to filling it in when we go on holiday this summer. She has already tried out some of the techniques shown in the book, such as perspective, so is really taking on board the ideas in the book. She also really liked the funny stick people! The only thing she said would improve the book would be more space to draw what she wants to.

This book is a great way to encourage children to use their observational skills, and certainly would liven up a rainy British holiday at the same time. There are some imaginitive activities that could build the child's excitement in the run-up to their holidays as well.

There are some pages on technique, for example mark-making, and looking at perspective and shadows. However, it would have been nice to have been shown how to draw some of the 3D shapes (step-by-step instructions or at the very least arrows to show how they're drawn), as seeing a drawing of a cube, for example, doesn't show them how to recreate it themselves. The cubes themselves weren't particularly well drawn either as the sides didn't line up properly.

Some of the ideas, such as creating a luggage label using bubble writing, although interesting and fun, don't allow enough space for someone who is just starting to use this technique, to actually write. Similarly, the create your own menu page, didn't have much room for younger children's larger handwriting. Maybe some tweaks to these could be made, and some practise pages could be appropriate.

Overall, my son liked this book, but I did think it was more suited to a much older child - maybe closer to 9 or 10, as they should be more secure in basic drawing (and writing) skills and be able to try more advanced skills such as contouring and shading.
