"This book is very good because I like every page: I like all of the pages. I like the vegetables and the pea and Supertato, especially his belt and his cape and everything. This book is happy and funny." Georgie's Dad spotted this book in the library. George loves superheroes, so his Dad thought he'd love this too. He wasn't wrong. Supertato rescues the hapless vegetables in the supermarket who are being terrorised by an evil pea who has escaped from the freezer. Hubby found it best to really ham-up the storytelling as if it were an old Batman programme, and everyone in our family loves the humour. It is silly and funny and has a great energy. We've since bought our own copy, as our son couldn't bear to be parted with it. He's committed the story to heart and can recite it without even opening the pages. Well done, Sue Hendra, this is the first book that our son has really, really enjoyed and made his own.

This is a funny book about a potato dressed as a superhero saving the day!  Children find it funny but there are adult jokes carefully mixed in too.  The illustrations are colourful and there are lots of foods to recognise.  It could help with getting children to eat vegetables as it makes them out to be the goodies.....except for the pea!

The book that started my son's Supertato obsession! He has read all the Supertato books and they just get better and better. Fun and imaginative, the words flow beautifully from the page. The illustrations are hilarious and really capture a child's imagination!

The first book in this super series. The evil pea has escaped and is looking for trouble, but supertsto is on the case. This book is lots of fun, we really enjoyed trying to find the pesky peas hiding places and loved the story. We might even try some new veg at tea time!

These books are great, nice and colourful illustrations too. When the evil pea escapes from the freezer, he starts catching the other veggies and doing naughty things to them. Like tying them to the conveyor belt in the supermarket. That’s until supertato comes to save the day. But will he? A really fun book, that my little boy loved.

I love the cover of this book and the story doesn't disappoint. The supermarket is not as silent as it seems one night when the evil pea escapes the freezer and causes chaos. The vegetables are frightened and only supertato can save the day. The fun illustrations add to the appeal of the story and my son and I fell in love with Sue Hendra's work.

Highly recommend.

A super hero potato saves his vegetable friends from a naughty escapea! Although I wish it was a different vegetable, we quite like peas in our house! However, we as a family love this book - great humour for both adults and children, bold pictures and plenty of action! Hands down my daughter's favourite book - we must read it at least once a week and you know it's a winner when it's been read on CBeebies

It is good because the evil pea tries to get all the trophies with his big robot watermelon.  It was very exciting because it was all about sports day.  I think it would be a great book for other children as I think Supertato could save the day every single day. There was nothing I didn't like about it and at the end the evil pea had to go back in the freezer.

Some vegetables are kept in the freezer for a reason..... when they defrost they go bad.... very bad..... and the most bad vegetable of all - EVIL PEA !! Thank goodness Supertato (our hero the mighty spud) is there to save the day..... This is a great book - satisfies the pre-schooler appetite for super-heros without the violence of "traditional" superhero characters. Sophie really enjoys searching for the evil pea as he hides amongst the super-market shelves on the pages..... and we found some nice tie-in craft activities on ACE Early Years' site on facebook.

We absolutely loved this book and my son asks me to read it to him again and again. The story follows the veggies in the supermarket. Someone is upsetting the veggies and causing havoc but just who could it be? Supertato must save the day and not only help all his vegetable friends in distress but also defeat the baddie who is causing all the chaos. The book is fantastically illustrated with lots of vivid colours and there's lots of action and adventure. It's a really fun story which the whole family will enjoy. We know it off by heart already.
