Material World Metal uses imaginative language and child-friendly photographs to describe the major characteristics of metals, and how one metal can differ from another. It then goes on to highlight the connection between the properties of various metals and how they are used in the world around us. As well as describing how metal is produced and used, the book also examines the environmental problems caused by the disposal of waste metal, and looks at some solutions. The text includes questions and activities to encourage children to think about and handle different materials.
