Hello. I'm called Ella Brook and I live in a town called Cherrywood. I have blue eyes and dark brown hair. My best friends at school are Tom and Lenka. My worst enemy is Zoe. And then there is my mummy. She looks normal, like any other mummy . . . but she's not. Because she can turn into a fairy. She just has to shut her eyes tight, say 'Marshmallow' . . . and POOF! She's Mummy Fairy. Ella's family have a big secret . . . her mummy is a fairy! She can do amazing spells with her computawand to make delicious cupcakes, create the perfect birthday party and cause chaos at the supermarket. But sometimes the spells go a bit wrong and that's when Ella comes to the rescue! Magic and mayhem in this sweet and funny new series for 5-7 year olds from global bestselling author Sophie Kinsella.

Ella is a fairy-in-waiting, but her mummy can turn into a real fairy with a few magic words and a wiggle of her bottom. Unfortunately, Mummy Fairy isn't very good at spells. From a chaotic trip to the supermarket to a flying bed and much more mayhem, young Ella must come to the rescue time and again. It looks like Ella is going to be a wonderful fairy when she grows up.

Mummy Fairy and Me is a young chapter book that was non-stop fun to read with my six-year-old. It's a modern day fairy story -- think computawands and mums who have a high powered job versus fairies fluttering around forests. And Ella is a level-headed schoolgirl who often comes up with the answer to Mummy Fairy's mistakes. There are fun activities at the back of the book that tie into the story like a Fairy Cake recipe and a scene from the story to design your own solution. Overall, it's a fun book for kids with lots of messy adventures and parents who do silly things.

We loved reading these stories together- my 7yr old is just the right age.  We found them funny and silly .  Darcey loved the pictures and said her favourite part was when "Mummy fairy kept making a mess".  Hoping to see more in the series.

This book was brilliant. I read it with my mummy and I'm sad that we're not fairies.
I liked the illustrations because they are funny.

Don’t know who was more excited me or my daughter I am a huge Sophie kinsella fan and was over the moon to be able to share my love of books with my daughter.

She loved the feel of the book, the illustrations and the fact it was all about fairies.
Ella apparently is very lucky to have a mummy, aunty jo and a granny who are all fairies and she wishes that we were all fairies. The chapters were perfect for a bedtime story and we found the book funny and loved the sports day chapter the best she would love to be able to put a spell on her class mates.
Hope there is more in this  series with Ella as a great book for younger readers.

We won this book on toppsta give away and could not to read it, as soon as it arrived me and my little girl started reading. Her favourite part is when mummy fairy starts a spell by stamping her feet clapping her hands, wiggling her bottom. It’s a lovely mother and daughter story where they work together when spelling don’t quite go to plan.
Thank you toppsta a lovely story by Sophie Kinsella

Daisy (age 6) and I have just finished reading this story together and we both enjoyed it so much. Daisy really enjoyed the spells in the book and she really loved Ella's character. I liked the fact that this book took a different twist on magic and fairies, I also thought it held an important message about how to cope with people who might not be so nice. We both liked that there were lots of funny parts in the book, we both agreed that Ella's Mum needed some extra magic lessons and a new computawand. My only criticism would be that I found the flow of the book a little difficult to follow, it read like a series of shorter stories rather than a chapter book and it did end rather abruptly. Despite this the overall story is just the right balance of sweet, silly and fun. We both loved the illustrations too. The book was perfect for reading together but Daisy had no problems reading by herself as well. I hope Sophie brings out some more Ella stories as I know Daisy would really like to read them.

I thought my 6 year old daughter would really enjoy this book (and secretly wish I was a fairy!!) but sadly it didn't engage her as I thought it would. She said that it would have been better if the pictures (illustrations) were in colour rather than black and white. Maybe we'll return to this one when she's a little older and can read it for herself.
