This talented author/illustrator makes her picture-book debut and introduces young children to two delightful characters and their most unusual friendship. Clarence, a small pig with a nice apartment in the city, is very excited about the vacation he is taking to a ranch Out West, and about the bus ride that will take him there. But when Clarence arrives at the ranch, he is too late for dinner, he doesn't know anybody, and he realizes he forgot his favorite pillow -- even though he packed very carefully. Things begin to look brighter the next morning when Clarence meets Smoky, a large purple horse, and they become fast friends. But their friendship is threatened when Smoky is no longer needed at the ranch. Will Clarence find a way for the two to stay together? Jean Ekman Adams's whimsical art and storytelling give these characters a personality that every child will fall in love with.
