"Short Cuts" is a three-level integrated skills series for teaching English to young adult and adult students by addressing all learning styles. At each level, the Student books feature a balanced presentation of reading, writing, listening, and speaking materials to allow students to develop all language skills, without having to buy a separate workbook. Each chapter within the Student Books contains worksheets to coordinate with the use of manipulative's. "Short Cuts" features: Ten high-interest thematic chapters in each Student Book encourage classroom communication; clear, colorful illustrations aid comprehension; self-study review pages for each chapter to enable students to check their own progress; vocabulary-driven manipulatives in each text; visual, aural, and kinesthetic teaching techniques; and, conforms to the California Model Standard of Adult Education, as well as to most other standards. Supplemental materials available for each level are optional and can be mixed and matched to suit the needs of any classroom. A Teacher's Manual includes detailed lesson plans for each chapter, suggestions for using music and authentic materials, and options exercises and activities.
The Teacher's Manipulative Kit - Pster version contains full-cover posters and manipulatives to correspond to the worksheet pages in Student Book 1-3. The Teacher's Manipulative Kkt - Transparency Version is easily used on any overhead projector. The Teaching Training Video contains classroom scenes of students and instructors working with Short Cuts materials, as well as interviews with the author and other instructors who use the book in class. Teacher's Cassette Works are two seperate audiotapes. One contains recorded versions of dialoques in the Listen section of each Student Book lesson. The other is the same tape as the Student Audio Tape. The Student Audio Tape may be used to accompany the On Your Own review page found at the end of each Student Book lesson.
