A brilliantly funny, gripping novel - and the bestselling hardback children's debut of 2014 - from a born storyteller, The Parent Agency is an epic wish-fulfilment adventure for every child - and for the child in everyone.
"I wish I had better parents!" Barry said, a third time. And then suddenly the entire room started to shake...
Barry Bennett hates being called Barry. In fact it's number 2 on the list of things he blames his parents for, along with 1) `being boring' and 3) `always being tired'.
But there is a world, not far from this one, where parents don't have children. That's far too random for something so big and important. In this world, children are allowed to choose their parents.
For Barry Bennett, this world seems like a dream come true. Only things turn out to be not quite that simple...
Illustrated by Roald Dahl Funny Prize winner, Jim Field.

This book is really funny. It's written in such a clever way. I laughed out loud at most pages. If I had to choose a favourite bit it would be where Barry is with the Cools and is allowed to say all sorts of rude words, bum,'pooh .. I'm looking forward to reading The Person Controller next. If you like Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, or David Walliams books then I think you will like this too!

As soon as I saw the cover I could not wait to read it. The story did not disappoint. It was an amazing, funny book. There are some sad parts and I was surprised by the ending. I would recommend this for anybody who likes to laugh out loud at books.

I liked the different kinds of parents and I liked when Barry ate the really sour sweets and his mouth was exploding with the taste. It really made me laugh.

I loved this book, it was very exciting and loads of things happened. There were lots of characters, some nice and some not so nice. The main character went to stay with 5 different sets of parents - my favourites were mr and mrs bustle. I really didn't want this book to end. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Liked the book lots. He got to choose his parents so that was one cool thing. But I would always stay with my own parents, not choose another mum and dad. Still recommend to fans.

The Parent Agency is a very funny book where one boy Barry Bennett gets to choose his own parents! He tries choosing rich, famous, sporty, parents who love him more than the other children and parents who have no rules!  Personally I liked the sporty parents the best!  Barry has to choose which parents he likes the best but time is running out......
I really enjoyed this book.  It is funny, exciting and you never know what is going to happen next!  There is one moral to the story, be happy with your own parents!!!!
