The Young Reading programme is designed to encourage independent reading and covers a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction titles, from the history of castles to humorous stories about gnomes. "Young Reading" titles features full-colour illustrations on each double-page spread, which include cartoon speech bubbles for added child friendliness. They have been developed in consultation with Alison Kelly, an early reading specialist and lecturer at Roehampton University in Surrey. "The Story of Knights" is illustrated by Alan Marks who has also illustrated the Usborne titles, "A Christmas Carol" and "Spooks Surprise".
