When a hare is accidentally killed while racing with a red Mini, she is laid out on a bank and covered in flowers. When the children on their way to school find the beautiful hare they take her with them to show their teacher. Knowing that the hare will have to be buried by the end of the day, the head decides to get all the children to help write the story of the hare's life and let the hare decide how it should end. A very original book dealing tenderly and imaginatively with the great issues of life and death and imagination.
