This is an introduction to the ground below us for young children featuring Harry and Ralph, a young boy and his dog as they journey around the world in a hot-air balloon. On the way they come across all sorts of things, from weather balloons to polar bears and the geographic principles which shape our environment. This title introduces the components of our natural environment, focusing on rocks, soil and water. It also explains the way in which land formations such as mountains , valleys and volcanoes were formed long ago.

As well as being a widely published author, Kate Petty worked in publishing for many years. She died in 2007.
More about Kate PettyLone Morton trained as a graphic designer at St Martin's School of Art and initially started her career in promotion and advertising. As a freelance, she began to work with books and helped for ten years to develop the style and design of the b small list and contributed to the creation of many of the titles, particularly in collaboration with Clare Beaton.
