Worms ... they're yucky, aren't they? Not according to this enjoyable new book which reveals just how amazing the wriggly creatures really are!

Worms - fun, fascinating and wriggly worms! The humble earthworm plays a significant role in the environment, as all farmers and gardeners know: it aerates the soil, composts dead matter into rich humus in which seeds can germinate and plants can grow. Children love them too - especially for their wriggliness!

My daughter really enjoys this lovely book. She is very much a 'nature explorer' and loves being outside discovering and learning about the world/creatures around her. This books is a great resource to learn about worms in a fun way. I remember reading about book at university while I was doing my early years degree and one that stuck with me so I ordered it for my daughter to find out more information about the worms she loves finding in the garden. It's great for adults too so that I feel like I can answer questions she asks about them. It's told with a lovely accompanying story about a granny and her grandson. My daughter loves being in the garden with her granny and great granny so something else that adds charm to the book.

This is a lovely book that we got from the library. It's actually a little too old for my daughter 2.5 years) hence the rating but would be great for older kids as it has lots of detailed facts about worms presented in a fun way. It's also a good impotus for looking at the world around us which is close to home as we read a lot of stories about exotic animals but even the worms in our garden are amazing and we don't have to go far to see them!
