'Their bodies flickered strangely - transparent, blueish, as if they were made of flames. With a jolt, he realised that they were fading. Time was running out.' Who are the phantom girls? What do they want with Aidan? Aidan's village is under siege. A fracking company has moved on to the land. Once drilling is complete, the paddocks looked after by Aidan's family will be gone, along with his home and the horse he loves. Aidan and his best friends Emmi and Jon have one last hope. Legend has it that the warrior queen Boudicca is buried close by. If only they can find the tomb ...prove this is the site of her last great battle against Roman invaders ...As the mists of time separating ancient history from present day swirl and fade, Aidan must face a deadly enemy. He must fight to uncover the truth of the ghostly sisters, before it is too late. The Warrior in the Mist is the latest novel from Ruth Eastham, award-winning author of The Memory Cage and The Messenger Bird.

I loved this book because it was a combination of modern times and roman times. Modern day schoolboy Aidan, lives where the ancient battle of Queen Boudicca took place with the romans many centuries before. Aidan must find Queen Boudicca's lost tomb to stop the fracking that doomed to start near his village.
This book is action packed and easy to read.

I found this book incredibly exciting and when I finished it my heart was racing.  As I read through the book I found it really hard to put down as the story was so intriguing I just wanted to read more and know what was going to happen.

I love history and I love mysteries so this book was perfect for me.  I think that this book is suitable for children around my age (10).  Younger children might get scared by the ghostly experiences the kids go though.

What an exciting book!  Aidan is a boy who has alot on his shoulders - his Dad new job, his Mum dying, the loss of his village due to fracking.  Only discovering an artefact from Boudicca and her two daughters will save Aidan and the village!  I really enjoyed this book, packed full of action and really good characters.  I felt that the group of friends that Aidan has are just like children would have aged around 12, and that kids aged 9-12 would related well to the children in the book.  The interwoven storyline about Boudicca is very interesting too.  Highly recommend for either a boy or a girl.

This book is about Aidan, a young boy who lives with his family on a farm that rears horses. The story is about their home being taken over by frackers. Before I read this book I didn't know what fracking was. So it was interesting to learn about it.
The story shows the struggles Aidan goes through along with the help of his friends, some real and some not!
I really enjoyed this book and also liked the relationship Aidan had with his horses, especially Centurion. I recommend it to ages 8+.

Fracking is threatening to change the town where Aidan lives and it seems a hopeless battle to change the minds of the contractors. However, a chance brush with a mysterious flame (or wisp) leads Aidan and his friends on an adventure which will require daring, challenge and grit. Is it possible that Queen Boudicca may be able to change the town's fortune?

A fast paced and enjoyable book which will make you want to research more about fracking and about the amazing history of Queen Boudicca and her final battle.

I would heartily recommend this book for anyone that loves a good mystery story and for those that love the Roman period. I also loved that it talked about contemporary issues such as fracking.

The Fracking is starting in Aidan's village. The villagers are all out protesting against the pollution and damage that it will bring, but they are not the only ones who have something to lose if it goes ahead. Aidan is desperate not to lose his home and the horses, which will go once the fracking starts. The Celtic spirits of Boudicca's daughters are also worried about losing their peace in their final resting place alongside their mother Boudicca. The powerful fracking company and the local landowners are determined that nothing will get in the way of the huge profits they will make from the shale oil. Both sides of the fight clash, pitting teenagers against big corporations and past against present with lethal results. Following in the tradition of an Enid Blyton mystery, the children are the only ones who can save the day, save their friend from an unexpected foe and unearth both Boudicca's secret and the buried treasure. I felt that the book raised the question about the safety of fracking, but didn't really explore the issues, and I found I wanted to hear more about Boudicca's story. It was also hard to categorise its possible readership, but it could appeal to readers of pony books or Enid Blyton's older adventure stories

I really liked the idea of this book and the front cover made me want to read the book. I found it difficult to get into the story as I felt I was missing some back ground information, as if there was a book previous to this one.
