The tiny hermit crab loves his new shell. He doesn't want to share it -- not with a blobby purple anenome and a tickly bristleworm. But life in the rock pool proves tougher than Crab thinks, and soon he finds he needs his new housemates in this rollicking story of sea, shells and friendship. Sharing a Shell was the first collaboration between Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks; the bestselling team behind Sugarlump and the Unicorn and What the Ladybird Heard.

I've yet to come across a Julia Donaldson book that we haven't liked.  This is an extra sparkly one and a sweet story about friendship and the benefits of learning to live with each other and how we are better off as a result!

One of our favourite Julia Donaldson books, made even better by copious sparkles on every page! We loved the little animals, especially the bristleworm. The rhymes are well done and the pictures are great. The overall message of friendship is a good one.

I have read this numerous times both as a parent and as a teacher. As a teacher it works brilliantly alongside a seaside topic theme bringing in PSHE issues like sharing and looking after each other. As a parent it serves as a fantastic bed time story leaving little ones to dream of seaside visits and rock pooling. I love this book!

This is a fantastic story exploring the ups and downs of friendship through life in a rock pool.
Both of my children love the beach/ sea life theme. It prompts a lot of further talk and exploration into life on the beach.
The illustrations are stunning; they are bright, bold and very appealing. They are beautifully detailed and help my children follow the story - even from being very young.
The bouncy rhyming prose is brilliant for sharing together and it’s a pleasure to read out-loud.
This is a brilliant classic that we return to again and again.

Another wonderful book from Julia Donaldson! This is a story about sharing. It's a great way to convey what that means to my youngest. The glitter on every page makes the experience very tactile. The illustrations are very colourful! We really enjoyed it.

My personal favourite Julia Donaldson book, beautifully illustrated and a lovely catch story of three friends sharing a shell. Reads/ flows really well, a good lesson about being kind and sharing as well.

Our two year old loves this book. He calls it the blob story, so I think that may be his favourite character. Lovely story about sharing and friendship, with nice illustrations.
