I disappeared on the night before my twelfth birthday.

Washed up on an island in the Pacific, Michael struggles to survive on his own. With no food and no water, he curls up to die. When he wakes, there is a plate beside him of fish, of fruit, and a bowl of fresh water. He is not alone . . .

From the author of the internationally acclaimed War Horse, this is a spellbinding adventure story about friendship and survival.

Kensuke's Kingdom was shortlisted for the Whitbread Prize and won the FCB Award.

We both loved this book, full of all different emotions. Its written in the mind of a 10yrs boy that goes on an adventure. We had the copy with a few pictures in the book thou you don't really need pictures as it is written so well you can easily imagine what is happening.

I have been reading this book at school and at home with my mum. I like the story a lot. It's about a boy who is shipwrecked on an island with a man from Japan. My favourite part was when Kensuke tells us all about his life and the effect of war. My favourite character is Stella the dog.

I think this book is for ages 10 and up.This book is a real roller coaster, book because there are a lot of ups and downs. This story also made me feel really excited, the books illustrations are really good in this book and I think Michael Foreman has really smashed it in this book. At the end i did fell a little bit emotinal, and all the characters are very important :'(

This book was a fun, adventurous, exciting and a great character description book. There was a few sad moments and some tears of my fellow pupils, great illustrations by Micheal Foreman. This book is for people who love cliff hangers and mysterious questions. This book was amazing, anyone who reads it at first might or probably will find it boring, however it soon begins to get exciting. Plus the more you read it, the more you want to carry on reading. I found this book very fascinating and interesting. wrote by y6 of Thornley Primary

I liked this book because of all the twists and turns that was happening within the story. The ending to this book was emotional for me and some of my friends; the main character ' Michael ' has done some AMAZING things with an amazing person! Michael Morpurgo has wrote a great and inspiring book for kids to the age of 9 and up. Michael Morpurgo and Michael Foreman write and illustrated some BRILLIANT books!

I have given 4 stars because Kensuke should have went with Michael.

This book was fun to read and intresting, because it told you a lot about what was happening in the story. If you are going to read this book I am warning you it is a little bit sad in some parts of Kensuke's Kingdom! Kensuke's Kingdom is full of suprises. This book is very adventurous and exciting. There was a little boy called Michael who went on an adventure with his mam and dad on a boat called Peggy Sue. They travelled all around the world they went to Sydeney, Perth, Cape town, Rio, Cape Verde and many more places. This book made me feel happy and emotional.

I think that this book is really fun, intresting and adventurous. I recomend kensukes kingdom to children 8+. learning about an island in the middle of the
ocean was one of my favourite parts in this book. Perhaps if you would like to read kensukes kingdom you could also read this to your siblings or a friend because it is like a real life situation   . The characters are are so realistic and i could even call it a true story waiting to be told. Be aware that some parts of this book can be quite heart breaking so if you are quite an emotional person i recomend grabbing some tissues  . I would describe this book as an adventure or kind of a mystery because it has a lot of twists and turns. The photographs are are really detailed and show extra info about kensukes kingdom. This book made me feel quite imotional and exited, it was really suprising and questionable. my star rating is 4 stars, if you ever read kensukes kingdom then make sure to do a report and tell us your star rating.

I thought it was full of laughter and interesting;you fall into the book and you would think that it was a true adventureby the end.Its full of amazing surprises! Its a bit emotional by the end; Michael(the main character) gets stranded on a peanut shaped island, but hes not alone... Michael was a 11 year old boy who disapeared on his 12th birthday. I would describe this book as a heart warming, bone shaking, traditional adventure. The photograths are amazing; they have a oran-atans carved into the sky. This book will biow your socks off! This book makes me feel that I want to cry by the heart warming treditions.

I'm not at all a Morpurgo fan, but I really enjoyed this one. It's a bit dated by the opening, sadly, but once you get into the adventure it's timeless. It has a fairly predictable plot, but is a great vehicle for learning about the Second World War from an unusual perspective. I can see why teachers absolutely love this one as a class text because there's plenty to dig into for discussion. It's been passed over in our school library many times, however, so I'm going to try recommending it and finding out whether today's kids can relate.
