A beautiful story about a little boy and girl with huge imaginations; they are dressed as an owl and a pussycat in a cardboard box boat. They go on an adventure and have lots of fun. A story with lots of rhythm that flows easily and my little girl enjoys joining in when I read it to her. The illustrations are really pretty and work perfectly with the story. They are quirky and cute at the same time. I would definitely recommend this book; I especially enjoy reading it to my daughter before bed.

Such an incredibly sweet book, it is a total pleasure to read. I thought it would be about the classic nursery rhyme, but when i opened it up and read it to my son, i realised that instead the book is about the amazing adventures they go on. The pictures are adorable and make the book extra special. Love it!

This is a nice book, it's about a boy and girl who make a boat out of a box. Dress up as owl and pussycat and go on adventures. My little boy enjoyed the story and the rhyming text. The illustrations are great too.

Oh to be a child again!
With their wild imaginations and sense of adventure anything is possible and this story really brings those days to life.
A fun read about two children and their homemade ship out on the wild seas of imagination, and what an imagination they both have!!
We loved this story, anything to do with animals is a BIG hit in our house and there are tons of them in this book. Lily-May enjoyed pointing out all the different ones she spotted, some even new to her, we had to make the noise to go along with which animal we spotted.
The illustrations are out of this world! No detail is left out, i especially like the Puffin page with his stamped passport…….he definitely gets around.
The wanted sign for naughty seagull made me giggle.

This has to be one of the most stunning children’s books i have seen in a long time, both Carol and Charlotte should be proud of the end results and i hope to see many more books along the way……. definitely ones to watch!!

Sometimes I feel jealous that there were no such incredible books when I was a child! Fortunately I've got 2 children and I can enjoy reading together with them:) In this book, the children dressed up as owl and pussycat and had an imaginative playtime in a cardboard box. The story is accompanied with a series of beautiful illustrations, which encourage you to keep turning the pages. This is one of my favourite kids books ever and my children feel the same way. Lovely book - not too long to maintained your children' interest. Lots of new words to learn:)
Good rhymes, my 5 year old after few reads knows all by heart. Highly recommended for every child.

We love this endearing picture book. A lovely, inspired story and gorgeous illustrations. We're already looking forward to more books from both - the author and illustrator.

This is a beautifully illustrated book about a brother and sister dressed as an owl and a pussycat who 'sail away in a box on the living room floor'.  It tells of the adventures they have the things that they see.  My little boy likes to spot different things in the illustrations every time we read it, and it has encouraged my two to have imaginary adventures of their own in a pretend boat in our living room!!

We have also since seen it featured as a CBeebies Bedtime Story.

The Adventures of the Owl and the Pussycat is a lovely picture book collaboration between mother and daughter. It begins and ends with verses based on the Edward Lear poem, except in this story the owl and the pussycat are a little boy and girl (perhaps a brother and a sister) in fancy dress who have made a boat out of a cardboard box. They have a pair of pants for a sail and a broom handle for a mast. They set sail from their living room floor, and their imaginations take them on an exciting adventure. On their journey they encounter swashbuckling pirates, all sorts of sea creatures, and a particularly naughty seagull.

The lively illustrations are packed full of detail; there's plenty to notice and smile about. I also loved spotting the little extra details in the illustrations. For example, the name of the pea-green boat is Petit Pois, and the puffin flying to the moon and back in an aviator cap and goggles is a nod to Amelia Earhart.

The Adventures of the Owl and the Pussycat is great fun and a joyous celebration of the magic of imaginative play.

A lovely illustrated book of the rhyming tale of the owl and the pussycat.
Beautifully put together, with lovely pictures to follow along.
My daughter enjoyed this but perhaps found it a little young for her now. Would be a lovely one to read with toddlers who I feel would particularly enjoy the smooth rhythm of the rhyming text.

Beautiful illustrations! Initially I thought this book would be about the kids going on the same adventures as the classic "The owl and the pussycat", however, I was pleasantly surprised on the first page when the author actually had a different idea, but using the same rhyming rhythm of the classic, but easier to understand. It shows 2 kids going on an amazing adventure in their living room by making their own boat, which is a lovely message for the little ones. After this the book lists the adventures they went on, so each page has a different scene, but the illustrations keep them connected. My son loved finding the details from previous pages, but besides that he didn't really bond with the story and for me this is because unfortunately the book lacks an arc of coherence.
