For fans of A Streetcat Named Bob comes Finding Gobi, the heart-warming true story of a dog who captured the hearts of the world. Younger readers' edition.
Finding Gobi is the ultimate story of hope and friendship - proving once again, that dogs really are `man's best friend.'
In 2016, Dion Leonard, an ultramarathon runner, stumbled across a little stray dog while competing in a gruelling 155 mile race across the Gobi Desert. The pup earned the name `Gobi', as she went step for step with Dion, keeping pace with him for nearly 80 miles. What Gobi lacked in size, she made up for in heart.
Dion had always focused on winning, but as he witnessed the incredible determination of this small animal, he felt something inside him change. This is a story of a life changing friendship between one man and a little stray dog called Gobi.

I loved this book! Gobi the stray dog makes friends with Dion who is running a marathon across the Gobi Desert (this is where her name comes from) and stays with him to the end.She is a little dog who goes on a big journey and gets a new owner. This is a true story and I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. There are even some lovely pictures of Gobi in the middle of the book that show how cute she is. I think anyone would want to own her once they've read this highly recommended book.

Olivia wants to be a vet when she grows up so she devours animal books.  This made her laugh and cry lots.  An extreme marathon runner running across the Gobi Desert is accompanied by a little stray dog who he promptly names Gobi!  He never leaves his side and when he returns to the UK he arranges to bring the dog back to him but he is devastated to learn that he has disappeared.  We both think this would make a really lovely story for a film.

I really liked this book ! It is a real life story that was super dog and his devoted (accidental) owner .

Gobi looked around , these people were giving him food , yes ,hugs ,yes but this wasn't what he wanted . Then he saw the man . A tall person with a funny yellow thing on . Gobi trotted over .He wanted to be with this person....

A real story of true friendship , finding Gobi highlights the extraordinary lengths humans will go to be with their animals . It is a relatively tame story about an extreme marathon runner and an unlikely friendship . It's  got a wide age range of 7 to 11 and a perfect read for those curious about the world around them .

This is a lovely story of the amazing bond that can develop between a human and a dog, but I feel that there were many missed opportunities in the book.
There were many aspects of the Chinese culture that could have been explored and explained more. This would have made it a book that could have been I'm used in schools as a text that could be used to compare two different cultures.
The writing was easy to read.
