After losing her mum in an accident, Sass is sent to live with her uncle in England. Far from her native Brooklyn, the rocky shores and crumbling castles of Cornwall seem like the perfect place to hide her grief. And when she stumbles across a silver horse in a sunlit meadow Sass feels a surprising sense of peace...only to have it broken by a boy. Arrogant and distrustful, the horse's trainer, Alex, doesn't approve of the trespassing American. Yet after a few chance meetings, he begins to feel a connection to the curious girl with the sad eyes, and offers to teach her to ride. Sass never expected to feel anything again - least of all love - but the lessons reveal a far different Alex, and soon their friendship turns into something more. But Alex has a secret - a bombshell about his family that could shatter Sass's trust...and force him to abandon the one girl who made him believe in himself.

Wow!! what an amazing book, the cover is stunning!! I read this book to Bella as was a bit difficult for her on her own, there were a few sad moments but it was written beautifully and so glad there was a happy ending, Bella really wants to go to Cornwall now and have a horse!! This is my favourite book we have enjoyed together in quite a while Thanks Toppsta

I thoroughly enjoyed reading One Silver Summer. Sass and Alex are such brilliantly constructed characters that are immediately relatable. The overall story is so bittersweet and magical that it has your heart tugged in many different directions. Every moment is one that leave you craving more; and for perfect moments like that to happen to you. I was pining for Alex and Sass to have a happy ending but what makes this book so relatable and realistic is that it was not to be. There were some moments that make me want to cry and others that make my heart flutter. An absolutely amazing read that I recommend to all fans of Cathy Cassidy. :-)

This is a really lovely story. I liked the main characters and was hoping they would have a happy ending. I enjoyed it very much but did find it quite difficult to read and follow at times. I think it would suit someone a little older than me, about 12+. The liked that the story is set in Cornwall, such a beautiful place for a romantic story.

A lovely book. I was unure at first as i thought it may be lovey dovey and too old for me. Took me a couple of chapters to get into and then i couldn't put it down...i love the characters and fell in love with the horse. Yes there are some sad parts but it explains the emotions of grief well. I recently lost my nan and we used to holiday in Cornwall so i related well to this book. I will recommend it to my friends.

I am just 11 and found some of the story a bit hard to understand maybe ok for someone around 12-13.

Nice story though and I liked the characters. I have saved it to read again in a year or too.

One Silver Summer is a very enjoyable read, maybe a little grown up for Boo but we both enjoyed it.

Set in peaceful Cornwall, fifteen year old Sass is recovering from the loss of her Mum when she spots a silver horse in a nearby field, little does Sass know that she belongs to a prince.

A sweet fairy tale where girl meets prince and they fall in love.
