Meet Lottie. She's a little girl just like you - she loves adventures, mysteries and her little puppy, Biscuit. When Lottie finds an old book all about beasts of the world in her attic, she can tell it's going to be the start of a brilliant adventure! All she needs is a beast of her own to track . . . and she doesn't have to wait long. There are strange rustlings and footprints in the Branksea Island woods! Lottie and her friends Mia and Finn set themselves the task of tracking down the Beast of Branksea. But what exactly is this mysterious creature? And can the trio find it before Mia's older brother Sammi ruins the whole adventure?

Gracie really enjoyed this book as she was already aware of the Lottie Dolls brand, she owns her own Lottie doll toys so safe to say she was super excited to read all about the dolls she loves so much. Having that awareness of the Lottie Dolls meant that her interest in this book was heightened from the get go, and we set about reading it straight away.

First of all, we loved how the main character is a girl called Lottie and we loved how she is an empowering female. As a parent, I love that she is a lead character that Gracie can relate to but also someone she can look up to, as she is intellectual, courageous and fearless. Gracie really liked that Lottie was a good problem solver, a good listener and a great friend. These are all great attributes for Gracie to aspire to.

Whilst Gracie loved Lottie, most of all, she adored her companion, Biscuit the dog. Gracie thought Biscuit was a really cute character, and as she loves animals, he was her favourite character from the book.

Gracie enjoyed the clues being uncovered in the book and all the different things Lottie and her friends discovered throughout the story, she found it exciting to try and work things out also for herself. She liked that it kept her guessing all the way through the book, and this was an exciting element which kept her engaged and focused on the tale regardless of it's length.

The size of the font is great for Gracie who is learning to read and who is enjoying sounding out and reading words. She also loved the cute illustrations that were laced throughout the book and kept her focused as the story progressed! A really great read!

My daughter enjoyed this book. We read a chapter each night. She liked Lottie and her friends, and her dog  and enjoyed the adventure of the story. She wasn't that taken with the illustrations as they were black and white. My daughter looked forward to reading it every night before bedtime. The font was quite big, so would be grest for new readers.

We thought this book was very easy to read, with a lovely story that was simple and easy to understand.  We liked the colourful front cover, and the pictures inside were black and white, but they were still nice to look at. We would definitely read more from this series!

My 6 year old daughter enjoyed reading this book. It's a fairly easy read with large font and lovely big pictures. A good first reader for those venturing into paperbacks.

The story follows lottie and her friends as they embark on a mission to find the local beast of harley wood. Although it's a story about a beast it doesn't contain anything scary so is fine for young children.

It's similar to the rainbow magic books and would suit the same kind of target audience in my opinion. Recommended for girls aged 5 to 7.  You don't need to know anything about lottie dolls to read it although I did think it might have been useful to give a brief over view of lottie and her friends as the characters weren't really described at all and although there was a brief mention of one having a cochlear implant,  it didn't really explain anything about it or even seem necessary to mention,  it was just thrown in and not mentioned again. I think very few children in the age range would know what a cochlear implant was or wonder what relevance it had to the character or story.

It's a really sweet book about group of friends who try to solve the mystery. They found footprints of some sorts of strange creature and they are really determined to see to whom they belong.

A really good book for children who start their adventure with reading - they will enjoy it.
The letters are big and the text it written in easy way so the book will give them some confidence.
