A is for Alice: An Alphabet Book is a delightful introduction to the alphabet, using characters and objects from Lewis Carroll's iconic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass . A is for Alice, E is for for Egg (Humpty Dumpty of course), Q is for the Queen, not forgetting R for the Rabbit who started off the whole adventure. With charming, traditional colour illustrations by Sir John Tenniel and beautiful Victorian-style decorations and backgrounds, this is a really special book for young children and, together with One White Rabbit: A Counting Book , forms a classy introduction to the classic Macmillan Alice.

I had to get Darcey Alice in wonderland book they are classics and as a child I loved the books.
A truly beautiful book with lovely illustrations.
Hard back book which she held and turned the pages by herself easily.
Plain backgrounds made the pictures so eye catching for her.
Will definitely take care and look after this gorgeous little book in our book case.

A brilliant alphabet book using the theme of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
This sturdy board book is brilliant not only for my baby daughter but also for my daughter aged 3. Each page is filled with a super illustration of characters and objects from the world of Alice. The illustrations are captivating and the Victorian style is to be appreciated. I also approve of the clean background used on each page which doesn't distract or confuse young ones. The letter of each alphabet is clearly printed and each illustration is captioned. This is such a great book for fans of Lewis Carroll's work and also for those who are wanting to introduce the alphabet far from the repetitive A is for apple. A delight.

I read this book with Lucy my eighteen  month old granddaughter. I like this book as the illustrations are in a traditional style which introduces a different look to children. Especially nice for grandparents etc that loved the story when they were young. The words used for the alphabet sounds make a change as well e.g. Yawn, which makes for discussion with children.
Lucy loves it and even though it is a board book I can see it remaining a favourite for a few years while learning the alphabet sounds

I read this book with my 4 year old and my  month old. although the one month old wasn't yet interested my son thought it was fantastic to be able to practice his letters and phonics while enjoying some of his favourite Alice characters. The book itself is beautiful and made to a great quality. The pages are all bright and eye catching which is perfect for young children.

I couldn't resist this book as my daughter is called Alice. It's beautifully presented and the illustrations are lovely. The book goes through the whole alphabet using references to Alice in Wonderland. My daughter loves me reading this book to her. The book is quite sturdy so her little hands can grab it without causing any damage. Would recommend this book. We love it so much plan to get the numbers one to match.

A is for Alice is a gorgeous alphabet board book published by Macmillan, the publishers of the first Alice in Wonderland books. John Tenniel's original pen and ink illustrations accompany the text and this lends the book a lovely vintage feel. This is an alphabet of the characters and objects from the Alice stories. It includes, for example, the Queen of Hearts, the Dormouse, the Cheshire Cat and the Dodo. There's also a teacup, a pocket watch and a bottle labelled 'Drink Me'. The book is easy to read and accessible; the layout is clear and unfussy, and the backgrounds are simple.

I always look at alphabet books with my teacher's hat on. Ideally, the words that have been chosen should begin with the letter sound not the letter name because children first learn the alphabet (and how to read) using phonics. I'm pleased to report that there are only two words, owl and unicorn, which fall foul of my requirements!

A is for Alice is a lovely way to develop early reading skills and a beautiful introduction to a children's classic.

This is a beautifully made and illustrated book. The board book has easy to turn pages. The illustrations are beautiful from the original Alice in Wonderland books. My little boy enjoyed looking at the pictures and hearing the words. Because the words are based on Alice in Wonderland some of the words aren't transferable to real objects, or are verbs rather than nouns (ie Dodo and exercise). A lovely book that we will enjoy looking at.

A beautifully illustrated board book that any fan of Lewis Carroll would love to flick through. My 6 month old liked the brightly coloured pages and lots of thought has gone into even the backgrounds of each page however an older child like my 3 year old was just filled with huge numbers of questions about the characters depicted and who they were and why they were like that. Hard to explain when they have yet to come across the story of Alice in Wonderland!
