A fantastic new picture book all about a football-playing spider, written by Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo, with glorious full colour illustrations from the talented Sebastian Braun and a sparkling, glittery foiled cover.

Spinderella the spider has a passion for football! She tries to play a match with her brothers and sisters but she doesn't know how many spiders should be on each team. Even worse, she can't count the goals! Luckily for Spinderella, her Hairy Godmother has a plan . . .

Julia Donaldson does it again in this hugely engaging and funny story all about football, spiders and counting - what's not to love! The perfect picture book for children of all ages - boys and girls alike.

Julia Donaldson is the internationally renowned author of the best-loved picture books in the world, including The Gruffalo, What the Ladybird Heard, Sugarlump and the Unicorn and Night Monkey, Day Monkey. Julia Donaldson's collaborations with Axel Scheffler have sold millions of copies, and Room on the Broom is now an Academy Award-nominated short film.

Sebastian Braun studied fine and applied arts at Strasbourg University. He moved to London in 2000 and since then has been working exclusively on children's picture books, having been published by Orchard, Walker, Campbell, HarperCollins and Puffin.

We have lots of books by this author, so when we saw this we had to get it. Wasn't dissapointed either. Its another great story with really nice illustrations. The story of a spider who loves football but cant count, so doesn't know how many players are on each team and can't even count the goals. But she finds a way to learn. My little boy really enjoyed this book.

Another great hit from Julia Donaldson, Spinderella really wants to learn how to count and with the help of her Hairy Godmother her wishes come true.  As you come to expect from Julia Donaldson another wonderful tale with great illustrations, highly recommended

Very different to the usual typical Julia Donaldson books. I wasn't expecting for it not to be written in rhyme, so it didn't flow as easily. But I loved it all the same! A different approach to teaching children numbers, and my five year old who absolutely loves counting at the moment loved it! My two year old who loves football also enjoyed it as it is based around spiders loving to play football together! It was nice to see Julia Donaldson take on a different way to tell a story! Definitely a recommended read!

Very enjoyable reading and educational too...we found this was really engaging...counting flies, legs, boots, rooms, children...following dotted trails....ooh and spotting the pea they used as a football was very important for our 3 year old! It held his interest first read and an immediate re-read requested! I found him looking through the book for the counting children page so he could count the numbers on his own!

We are big Julia Donaldson fans but this was different to all the other books we have read. It didn't follow the usual rhyme theme. An enjoyable read about spiders, playing football and counting. My daughter was keen to be involved in all the counting activities and listened to the rest of the story very nicely. At the point of the new football boots, she said they are very smart :-)

I enjoy reading this book to my little ones. It's about a spider who is eager to learn to count so she can play a proper game of football. Lots of opportunities to count with my little one. As it doesn't rhyme like the usual Julia Donaldson book I think it misses something Still a great book and highly recommended.

Not the best Julia Donaldson book for me.  Illustration was lovely and the use of colour, however not her usual type of book. Lovely story line of spider who really wants to learn numbers and doesn't give up her passion with the help of the hairy godmother
