Once on the island, Luke's fears fade when, on an early morning run, he comes face to face with a very special griffon vulture. Boy and vulture become friends and Luke names him Griff.
Griff guides Luke on a quest. What mysteries will Luke discover at the ruined temple of Amphora? Why does Griff need Luke's help to protect the mysteries and treasures which lie under the temple? Do these mighty vultures, The Servants of the Gods, really carry the souls of the dead to the never-ending universe? And if they do, does Griff know the fate of Luke's real father who died when he was five years old?
